Great to lift at Adlington again today. I couldn't do overhead as my shoulder is bad so did narrow grip bench and deadlift.

Hit 170kg paused on the bench which was a PB I think, then went for 182.5kg but lost my line and didn't get it going. Did these without sleeves and was pretty happy with them overall considering I have benched very little recently and not over 150kg for ages.

Onto deadlift, warm-ups felt okay... took 260 as my last warm-up for a 300 opener. I did 300 without straps and then as some others were wearing straps checked to see if they were allowed for scoring which they were so put them on for my next lift of 330kg which went up okay. Final lift was 350kg for a 5kg PB... needless to say it was a very hard pull and it need a wee hitch though the bar never stopped moving a I was told after.

Was made-up to hit this milestone lift at this great event in the honour of Alan.

As ever at Adlington a great atmosphere with support and encouragement from all and for all.

There was some great lifting, in particular for me was Mark Clegg's all-comers snatch record... Travs clean and jerk... and above all Ste Baker's 110kg power clean to push press PB which went up like a rocket once the clean was under control! He is not even meant to be lifting heavy but can still knock out a cheeky PB at short notice - still a LEGEND!

Many thanks to Jeff and the crew for putting the comp' on and to those donating raffle prizes, I really hope some decent money was raised for the club.

A brilliant days lifting and a fitting tribute to Adlington's Alan Fairclough

Everyone put in 100% which is all we asked. We saw PBs and even an Adlington all comers snatch record!!!

A massive thank you to all the lifters who made it a great event!!

Our champions are:

Snatch and Clean & Jerk: Adam Travis

Bench and Deadlift: Ben France

Overhead and Deadlift: Mark Felix

Special mention for Adam Travis who placed top three in all three competitions, and for me was lifter of the day!!!

Ben France's 350 deadlift was a stand out lift

Ste Baker's 110 overhead PB was also a highlight for me.

Really pleased with how the day went, with the Adlington boys working hard to make sure it ran smoothly.

Great raffle thanks to kind donations from Mark and Denny Felix, Strengthshop, Jack MacIntosh, and Darren Sadler

All told we raised around £250 which will go towards roof repairs at the club.

So a big thanks and well done to all involved, Alan would have been proud of you all.

Cheers

Fantastic day and it was an honour lifting with some great lifters, strongmen, , power lifters and Oylmpic Heros combining to give the Great man himself a good memorial send off ! Excellently run comp by Wigan and Rick, a very close tight community there at Adlington Barbell club!

Excellent deadlifting from Ben France

Inspiring snatch and overhead stuff from Trav and Cleggy

And brilliant being part of the Classic Push Pull comp !

Hope Adlington gets boosted by this comp and roll on the next comp !

Trav and Ben especially impressive, I thought, and it's always great to see Mr Clegg lift even off peak - the man has such ridiculous power.

A great day. Jeff, he would have been so proud.
