Trump will get another four years Member 126, 16708 posts SQ 160, BP 110, DL 225495.0 kgs @ 75kgs UnEq | ok writeup. havent done one of these in a while. background: havent competed for over 18 months. last comp was englands u80 which I did just after dropping down from u90. that was probably my worst ever performance. was pretty embarrassing all round but getting pwned by the 270 yoke stung the worst. build up: probably about as close to perfect as I ever get in a comp prep. no real injuries, good progress on deads, tekkers sharp on axle, cardio was decent, was under 80kg from about 3 weeks out. usually have something im stressing about but not really this time. weighed in pre breakfast at 79.7kg with my joggers shirt and socks still on so no probs there. found out that the order was changed to yoke, axle, deads, hold, stones which I didnt think would be a massive issue. Yoke - 270kg for 20m in 18.71 after getting crushed by yoke in my last outing I was determined that that would not happen again so I have trained it nearly every week since. was still a little nervy about it as yoke always feels harder in comp than in training. went out slightly cautiously and I wasnt breathing like I usually do but my speed was solid. turn was ok and I sped up a bit on way back. all in a solid run with no mistakes. time was 18.71 which, as it turned out, was enough for the win. was not expecting that! turns out practising things makes you better at them. Axle - 80kg for 7 in 60secs (1 rep disallowed) was pretty confident in this as press events are usually good points for me. belt cleans were allowed but I did hitlers because belt cleans are for pussies. weight was easy but I got a bit over excited and wasnt lowering to the chest and ended up getting a rep docked for it. ended up with 7 reps after that which was worth a share of third place. probably wouldve hoped for a bit better pre comp but not a disaster. Deadlift - 180kg for 9 in 60secs historically a 'damage control' event for me. glass back usually hampers me on deads but I have recently switched up my style which has done wonders. knew I wouldnt be challenging for the win on this but my recent progress had me hoping that I could do enough to at least keep me in contention. ended up with 9 which matched what I had done in training but was less than I was hoping to do - the target was 12. I think this was probably due to having to do yoke first. That was worth a share of 4th which was solid enough. even if I had managed my planned 12 it still wouldve only been good for 3rd place. Frame Hold - 220kg for 43secs training for this has been ok although I havent made a massive amount of progress in my hold times. didnt really know what to expect in terms of the standards so I just hoped what I was doing was enough. had been training up to 250kg holds in training on my frame which has a wide handle spacing so I could mitigate for encountering any tricky kit on the day. as it was the frames we used had a high pickup and close handles so piss easy compared to what I had been training. this meant I could fully concentrate on the hold itself. ended up with just over 43secs which was good for 3rd spot. was happy with that as grip hasnt always been great points for me in the past. stone over yoke - 110kg to 52" for 7 in 60secs I consider stones another banker for me so I was hoping to finish with decent result. ill be honest - I wanted the win on this! nearly messed up before I started as I was slack at getting tackied up and had to rush it. didnt get a chance to see what the guys who went before me did so didnt know what I was aiming for although that didnt matter - I was going all out anyway. had a little bit of tacky slip as the temp was pretty high and my forearm tape got destroyed but that didnt really hold me back too much. hit 7 reps and just missed the load on 8. didnt get to see the final results so I thought that was joint first but later found out john pipped that with an 8 - bast! so joint 2nd. we werent kept up with overall positions during the comp so I wasnt 100% sure where I was. However, I felt like I shouldve been top 3 on what we had done. as it was, I came 2nd! kinda shocked as after 11 years in the game this is only my second trophy won. was a great day. not only for the result but also seeing some old friends and meeting some cool new people. reminded me of the fun I started having less of in recent years. onwards to the final!

I’ll be watching out to see the final events and I may pop down to watch and cheer. Are you gonna do England’s u80 at PTS this year? PS hitler cleans are also for pussies, muscle cleans for the win.

If so, what's the target? havent got the events yet. the north qualifier is tomorrow so should find out after that. given it was axle in the quals it could be log in the final so I just gave it a run out as I havent done any this year. if it is max log, a 120 would be nice. having said that, 105 wasnt exactly easy today!
