Lost one of the screws from my lever belt on Wednesday so now it closes, but feels kind of wobbly and not very secure. Just tried my old belt for size because I'm going to have to use it today, its too big even on the smallest hole. Got stronger and slightly more muscular since I started training, but it seems I've also got skinnier.

Bench Press Paused Singles:
Bar x 2 x 10
50kg x 10
60kg x 1
65kg x 1
70kg x 1
75kg x 1
80kg x 1
TNG
70kg x 10

Did the first 8 reps in one breath. All felt easy. However, I think that f**ked me up for the next 2 reps and the failed 11th. They got very hard very quickly after flying through the first 8.

Deadlift:
60kg x 5
100kg x 2
120kg x 2
140kg x 2
160kg x 2

Can tell I have been neglecting my deadlift. Double with 160kg was HARD!

Practiced my opener in the easy shirt today. Followed it up by a bit of messing about and a couple of presses to find out exactly where to set the slightly more awkward shirt. The very awkward shirt didn't leave my bag.

Sorted for Sunday now. No benching now. Squats tomorrow and then nothing apart from walking and being careful with what I eat.

Jumped on the scales at Marc's today which tend to be a bit more accurate than mine, weighed 67.9kg. That was fully dressed, with shoes on and after having eaten a fair bit. Making 66kg by the weekend won't be an issue.

Yeah. Bench only at the Commonwealths.

I'm currently using an array of Rage-Xs.

Think I'm going to treat myself to a Super Katana after this comp though.

We went down to Bournemouth on the Friday afternoon, had a nice trouble free drive down and then found our hotels. Mine wasn't the nicest place in the world, but it was cheap, warm and had a bed. Couldn't ask for much more.

On the Saturday we went and watched Marc Giles lifting in the unequipped, which he won with a great display. Then we went for a wander round Bournemouth, got some food, had a nap and then headed back up to the venue to watch Big Dean total 1052.5kg. Very impressive lifting.

Jumped on the scales whilst I was at the venue and was already 65.4kg. So under the weight limit the day before. This set a few alarm bells ringing so I bought some more food and filled my face on Saturday evening. I didn't have a set of scales with me in my hotel, so I didn't risk having breakfast because of eating quite late at night. Big mistake.

Weighed in at a shockingly light 62.45kg. That's the lightest I have ever weighed in for a competition. Despite this when I started warming up everything still felt good. Marc even said that he thought some of my raw warm ups were the fastest he has ever seen from me. Last warm up with the shirt on set off a few more alarm bells, only had 80kg on the bar, which doesn't normally get anywhere near to touching... straight to the chest on this occassion though. Lowered my opener as a result.

On the platform:

First attempt- 90kg- Good lift.
To the chest far too easily because of me being light as hell. Easy press though.

Second attempt- 105kg- Fail.
Tighter shirt on, but still, straight to the chest because I was so light. Nothing out of the shirt and failed the lift.

Third attempt- 110kg- Fail.
Tighter shirt jacked up to try and get some more pop out of it. Same result as the second though.

So I ended up with only 90kg which is pitiful. I was hoping for at least 110kg, but it just wasn't to be because of how light I was. The video makes it clear just how easy it was to touch.

Very disappointed with how this competition went. And basically it was all my own fault because of not regularly weighing myself on accurate scales. Gutted.

Still, had a great time and saw some great lifting even if I was disappointed in my own performance.

A massive thanks to Marc Giles for his coaching in the lead up to the event and on the day. To Mike 'Stretch' Pennington for giving me a lift down there with him and a couple of other HCPLC guys. To James Jeffries, Graham 'Big Show' Mellor, Stretch, Paul Hammond and Al Murphy for being a set of awesome training partners for the last 2 months and giving me loads of tips and encouragement!

Shame about the second and third attempts but you live you learn, you're right shirt looked very loose. Sounded like a good couple days anyway.

Really showed how much of a difference being 3kg or so lighter than expected can make in the shirt. I've done 105kg and 110kg in the gym recently a few times and admittedly they're been tough, but I never thought I'd fail them. How loose the shirt ended up being was the only reason for failure.

British Bench in February though, so a lot of work will be going in between now and then so that I can make amends.

That's very light, you need to start following Marc's diet, 4 kg at your bodyweight would make quite a difference mate.
