Anyone used a length of scaffolding as a cheap axle? Just wondered how much weight a 7' length is likely to take. I'm pretty sure it'd be ok for pressing, just wondering about deadlifting.

mine is 6 1/2 feet, pretty thick scaff pole. With two Ivanko 2.5kg collars as stoppers. total weight 25.2kg !

Deadlifting is fine, ive loaded mine over 230kg

IronWorx, swindon in the past had a much thinner pole obviously lighter in weight but we had that up to 130kg for Axle Clean and Press

No, but I have used an axle made from a s**tty bar with scaffolding over the central bit (i.e. remove one end loading sleeve, add scaffolding pole, replace end sleeve. It was stronger than you'd ever need and weighed about 30kg when not loaded.

Cheers guys. I'm gonna get a length of it anyway, it's only £1 a foot.

Ive just finished a deadlift sesh today with a 7ft length of scaffolding as an axle. Only went upto 260kg for reps and it was fine; not sure of the weight limit. Good addition to use occassionally, it does roll a bit but chalk up lots or use straps on you final sets.

Cool. Might just get some scaff fixings to use as inner collars.

My piece of 7 feet scaff weighs a shade under 9 kg so with the collars is 14 kg.

Ive got a scaffolding pole which weighs around 9-10kg - most ive had on it is 110kg overhead but it was fine.

Just bought a solid axle off JT purely because it weighs 30kg and i only have 165kg plates so it means i can shift more weight around.
