has a shit deadlift lockout Member 696, 379 posts SQ 240, BP 155, DL 265660.0 kgs @ 115kgs UnEq | First off, how hard is it to think of a interesting log name for these things, i failed obviously !!! Right lads, ive been thinking of starting a log on here for a month or so now, ive been a occassional posting member on here since july! After suprising myself and finishing 3rd and 5th in my first two novice strongman comps (Reading and London). Ive been around gyms since the tender age of 16 but really got into strongman back in june of this year, previously a semi-pro rugby player but lost interest for the game back in 2008. Im about to take the leap into the shark filled waters of inter/open territory... I live in Gloucester and train at my uni (hartpury college), Whey HQ , Gymnation, Lee Powell's SevernSide and IronWorx, Swindon. Like all gyms each has their benefit over eachother and im very lucky i have such a large selection on decent facilities to train at. Im currently on my last day rest after London's Strongman Man, 13th Sept. Start training again tomorrow. My next comp is JT's Container Comp on 7th Nov, little over 7 weeks away! Now you all basically know everything about me... I'll keep the Log updated regularly!!

I took about £4 out of Sooty's bottom Member 685, 8719 posts SQ 225, BP 150, DL 290665.0 kgs @ 93kgs UnEq | If someone drops out I could be competing against you at the Container comp mate. The weights would be a real challenge for me but then getting stronger is the general idea I guess! I would have thought you will be looking to do well in the comp so I'm interested to see what sort of weights your using in training. No pressure mind ...

Just train and update how you see fit. If ive had a good session then i elaborate on my session and say what im particularly pleased about. If its s**t then i have a quick rant, detail the basics and move on.

Prop /Hooker I was with Llanelli Scarlets when I was younger. When I was 19 I ventured for a well paid season in sydney, living the beach lifestyle!! Since coming back I was with Gloucester Acad for but with Cinderford, a typical week with them would be Monday am - weights / pm - units (forwards/backs split) or GLOS A League game. Tuesday am - Match Analysis or Units (same as above) / pm Cinderford Training Wednesday - off Thursday - am Weights / pm Cinderford Training Friday - off or team run Saturday - Game or team run Sunday - Game or off Most of the units sessions would be really for 1st team lads, but if your a concret A league player, you'll do that rather than Cinderford and visa versa. Its not that organised lads get drawn in last minute, I ended up playing 6 games in a 10 day period twice in my last season. Possibly my decline in interest in rugby was due to this burnout !!

has a shit deadlift lockout Member 696, 379 posts SQ 240, BP 155, DL 265660.0 kgs @ 115kgs UnEq | Im at uni here in Glos now, my uni is also glos rugby's training ground and gym. So i'm still around all the lads. Im studying strength & conditioning with an interest to get into the industry (not only conditioning rugby athletes) Im about to grad this year and currently looking for working experience after i finish, hopefully with a pro outfit. Ive even looked at internships in the US! As for comparisons, its a real mix really. You get guys who dont look like or act like they have been in a gym in there life, but an ox on the field! There are obviosly the opposite, some respectable squats and bench's (raw of corse). But the impressive sight is the reactive power output of some lads! Ive seen a 106kg flanker one foot vert jump up to almost 3.5 or 4ft !!!

has a shit deadlift lockout Member 696, 379 posts SQ 240, BP 155, DL 265660.0 kgs @ 115kgs UnEq | forgot to mention ... tried out my new duck walk handle (off JT, payment should be clearing) on a ironmind loading pin. Pretty suprised the pin was long enough to load up to 200kg with x4 50kg ivanko bumpers! Did a few lengths of the gym with 160/170kg, handle (like all of JTs kit) solid as a rock !! Then tried out power stairs onto two plyo boxes of different height.
