For what ever reasons they can't but they should still be allowed to compete in something suitable. The name novice is irrelevant JC solved the whole thing. Novices should forever be called light opens. Simple Completely agree, saying you have to move up to opens regardless of whether you can move any of the events just isn't realistic surely we can structure strongman so everyone who wants a go(within reason) gets a go, and if you don't aspire to be WSM then thats ok?

Still got a little bit of strength Member 400, 22059 posts | The problem of glory hunting will never go away. I personally feel that the concept of a "novice championship" with qualifiers is flawed. It detracts from what novice comps are about. "Britain's Strongest Inter" also wouldn't work. spam_up said: Boot them out for being too strong for a strongman comp? Ha ha!

The word novice is not irrelevent atall it is there for a reason thats the point. I want all people of all abilities to be able to do this sport.......but, 1.Dont expect to come first 2.Do it honestly and with integrity I don't think any of us have vastly different view but think of Drew, he's 5ft 5, 84kgs, he's done a few novice comps, never come top 5 he could do u90 comps, but there is only one of those a year in Scotland, and there tend to be no inters either(but a proper inter would be too heavy anyway) so what does he do, is he not allowed to do novice comps, even though he is no glory hunter, and I doubt would ever win one(if he thought he would win it, he wouldn't do it likely) what about the average Joes? (maybe less than average for Drew )

Trump will get another four years Member 126, 16707 posts SQ 160, BP 110, DL 225495.0 kgs @ 75kgs UnEq | I dont see the main purpose of novice comps to be 'finding whos the strongest' funnily enough. because of the wide range of abilities and experiences I think they should be more focused on giving those new to the sport 'experience in a competetive environment' whilst having 'fun'. the competetive element should come in with the regional and national level comps imo.

Finished joint 5th. My stature gave me a MASSIVE advantage on that dead lift. I didn't shine on any of the other events.
