North Midlands Championships

Awesome day today. Arrived at the venue early and only had 5 hours sleep due to the heat. felt tired but took the old ibuprofen and pro plus. Weighed 84.5 the other night clothed but only 81 this morning so not bad, means I can gain another 2-3kg and be like 88 at night probably and still be an 83 which is nice.

Squat
Warmed up to 140 which scared me a little cos felt harder than it should
152.5 Good lift. This felt easier than the 140, now in the zone
162.5 Good lift
172.5 Good lift. +2.5kg PB and +22.5kg comp PB lol

Honestly can't believe I'm writing this but I should have gone for 180. Really pleased. However I walked out of the rack under the bar forwards after each lift and then got told later I am not allowed to do that and could have been red lighted for it had they felt mean. Luckily they weren't. Lesson learnt

Bench
95 Good lift
102.5 Good lift
110 Good lift massive grind +5kg comp PB

Honestly the pauses were absolutely BRUTAL people were getting almost 3 second on the chest in some cases. 110 not too bad considering it's my best touch and go

Deadlift
Last warmup 195 did not feel fast at all. I feel like I am stiff legging my deadlifts more at the min but I keep telling myself that cannot possibly be the case else I would not hit PBs... I dunno. Anyway I think deads were harder this comp cos I actually put some work into squat for once

210 Good lift
220 Good lift
230 Good lift massive grind. +2kg PB and +20kg comp PB.

512.5kg total @ 81, came second out of 5 83kg lifters, the best guy got 225 so not bad. 512.5 incidentally is the qualifying total for men's open 83kg (which I didn't need as I'm still a junior for this year) but still nice to hit it.

A great day all in all, I feel like for once I actually did what I was capable of at comp (well for bench and deadlift anyway, they were true maxes). 180 squat at the british hopefully. My brother also qualified for british he hit 140/80/190 @ 73.

A massive thanks to marc and everyone for putting on an awesome comp as always and my coach Adam Nash for helping me better myself consistently every time I lift
