No i disagree, i power out with my legs too quickly and strongly which causes me to turn it into a good morning which is the exact point which causes me to struggle.

I don't think the argument that your legs are so powerful that they turn it into a good morning makes much sense.

However I definitely think you should take the bar lower; you don't have to but most powerlifters do take it low because that's the optimum position for powerlifting squats.

All you need to do is tweak the few things that have been suggested (bar, chest, descent) and you'll be laughing. Make sure you absolutely fill your lungs up before the descent too.

One final point which I don't think anyone has mentioned is that of footwear. I can't tell what you're wearing but they look they might just be trainers? Flat soles or weightlifting shoes with a raised heel can help a lot.

Yeah, I agree. It is true that not everyone has a low bar position. And for some people the high bar may be optimal.....For others, however, they have a high bar because they never work on perfecting the low bar position. A bit of time, practice and wrist wraps later, and it is not unlikely that it will really help you. I would definately say try it before you write it off as an unimportant fact.

Also a good point from Rob. I love my squat shoes, they are invaluable in helping me sit back into the squat Happy

Platform Deadlifts
60kg x 8
100kg x 6
120kg x 5
130kg x 5 x5 x5 x5 x5(hands got torn up, wanted to do rack pulls after this but wasnt happening)

Squat with very slow decent
60kg x 6
80kg x 3
100kg x 3
110kg x 3 Letting out a large noise from the rear which caused everyone in the gym to burst into laughterCool
115kg x 3

Hands got torn up something rotten on the deads today so was a no-go on the rack pulls. Worked on getting the bar set lower down but any lower than my usual setting and it is resting on my shoulder blades and slipping down, is this usual? A good 6 second decent time will help me with the control on the way down hopefully.

It may just be a practice thing. How far apart are your hands on the bar? What was your elbow position? I find that taking a very close grip helps me, although it does put more pressure on my shoulders.

I use a narrow grip which i only started using just before i got injured and found it much better. I will keep pushing that bar down until its wright.

Military press
40kg x 8
50kg x 5
52.5kgx 5 x5 x5 x5 x4
40kg x 8

Dumb press
20's x 6
20's x 6

Skull crushers(E-Z bar)
18kg x 8
28kg x 6
30.5kgx 4x4
18kg x 8

Singel arm cable tricep extension
20kg x 8
30kg x 6
35kg x 5 x5
40kg x 3
25kg x 8

Still working on finding the wright volume. Felt allot better not doing allot of sets of dumb's followed by side and front raises, shrugs and than all the tricep work.

Bar is now resting around 2 and a half inches lower than before, i have widened my stance, toes are pointing to the side more, head is up and i have tightened up all around with these changes.

Squats
60kg x 8
100kg x 5
110kg x 5
110kg x 5
110kg x 3(:O did not expect this)
100kg x 5
80kg x 8

Front squats
40kg x 5
60kg x 3
60kg x 5
60kg x 5
40kg x 5

I felt much more in control with the squats tonight. The changes have put ALLOT more pressure on my quads and they now feel like they are on fire. Alex was wright about the fact that my lower back is actually stronger than my legs, it seems that Leg press's don't show true leg strength.

a bit better, but could still be better. When you say your quads are fried, I hope it is from the front squats and not the back squats as that should be more of a hamstrings and glutes target.

pointers...
The start of the movement should be a backwards one, with you pushing your bum out and pushing your hips back. at the moment, your knees are the first thing to move and you are allowing them to come forward, which will place more stress on the quads and knee and can lead to knee probs. Try to restrict the movement of the knees as much as possible, with the aim of keeping your shins as upright as possible.

Also, I see you are keeping your head up, which is good, but you also need to keep the chin up, as you come out of the hole, aim to drive with the head back on the bar, with the aim of pointing your chin toward the ceiling.... which will bring out of the hole nicely, and the rest should just be a hip thrust movement to get the hips through as soon as possible.

Here is a vid I found, not perfect ,but I thought his form and execution was good.

Cheers mate, thats a big help. My quads are done in because they are the weak link at the minute i suspect. I have done very little work on them as my main aim before my injury was to strengthen my lower back. This is why i decided i will now front squat instead of GM for the time being on squat days.
