These things always make me wonder if people actually understand strongman tbh. It doesn't work for weight lifted on farmers yoke etc cause its all about how fast you move with a set weight not whether you can do the weight

Despite the 'popular' belief, that Australia is an 'easy-going' place, I find it an extremely regimented country.

I'm not sure that too many Strongmen in Britain would like such a system.

I could be wrong...

while the numbers aren't exactly perfect, it's taking strongman in the right direction imo.

I cant open the links at work, but surely how you place in comps is grading enough?

Part of the theory is that you, for example, need an 'A grade' (from a Strongfit grading 'comp') to *enter* a national level comp.

(or something very similar to that)

Interesting. I cant see it at work, so will have a look when I can.

Is it that different to placing well enough in a quialifier to go on to a national comp?

or the american system with the different coloured tiers?

Probably not too much different.

To be honest, I don't know that much about the Strongman system in the USA.

However, across its entire society, Australia seems to have embedded numerous protocols that were conceived in the USA so this could simply have 'followed suit'.

Just had a look at it, I think its a pretty poor effort at doing something that there is no point doing.

That is all fine and good on paper, but it proves nothing, it does not ask if you can do those things one after the other in a comp setting etc.

The only way to grade people is on how they do at comps imo.

If you do a qualifier and you qualify then you are good enough for the national. If it qualifies for something else, and you place high enough to qualify then great, that is your level.

I dont see what the links above add at all now I have seen them

I'm with you. If you want to put a grading system in place (and there are merits to doing so) then do it based on results.

Could possibly be used by event organisers as a rough guide for picking weights, but beyond that I don't see much use in it

Which I think is 'unofficially' in place anyway for invitation only competitions etc, people know roughly how athletes stack up.
