I am having problems with grip on deadlifts.

I have crap frilly little hands much like those of an 8 year old girl, so tend to be s**t at all things grip related, except pinch grip which is not bad.

Generally my grip seems worse than most people who do not even train at all.

I have gotten to the point where I fail deadlifts on grip. My PB is 282.5 but anything over 260-270 is hit or a miss depandant on grip.

I find it ok on fixed deadlifts like a car frame that doesn't offer to move in the hand, but pretty crap on a bar. Side handles like trap bar is also not so bad, as it doesn't seem to want to roll out of my grip the same.

Sadly I also find if I train grip too much then it weakens short term while I try to train it, but it has possibly made it slightly better over time.

Any thoughts or agvice would be appreciated, there must be some others with fairy hands?

I Dont Know If DOH on an axle would help! but it wouldnt hurt?

and if it was me when you deadlifted i would hold it at the top and count to 10.

might help you never know! might not! but it wont make it any worse!

try the coc trainers as many times as you can eveery day?

Seen Andy Bolton on Facebook do holds for time with the same set up as a dead, in fact they may even just be a partial dead for 10secs, pinch grip and also doh shrugs

If it's good enough for him

Is that not more a hand health thing rather than a grip strengthening thing

he was doing it when his grip was limiting his deadlift I believe, IMO an over-all hand strengthener

I think the 2 biggest handicaps in strongman are small hands and short stature. I'm quite lucky to have a decent sized pair of hands for a little guy. Big respect to Ben Pearce who overcomes both so well.

Add a session of judo in now and again. Heavy rack pulls?? I try and do a lot of pulls/chins with a judo gi. It has improved my grip.

your grip doesn't need to be a strong grip interms of squeeze juts strong to hold and have strength endurance. so doing stuff like Farmers holds, Barbell holds axil deadlift and holds will help to improve this. even using the C.O.C #1, 1.5 or 2 for time will help.

It's worth trying one or two sessions with a thumbless grip. It might seem like an odd idea, but I remember one lifter with particularly small hands who added around 60kg to their deadlift when they switched to thumbless grip.
