Member 4803, 410 posts | Let's not forget that Capes was first and foremost a shot putter with a 21.5m+ PB, competing in the 70s / early 80s against East German, Soviet and other Eastern Block athletes. Some of his claims may be exaggerated, but, in his day, he was the real deal. | ||

No one could match him in tug of war, pulling objects uphill, bending bars. Other stuggled to match him at caber toss, overhead toss, loading events etc..No doubt he would struggle with the dead, log etc weights now. He used to make us proud thogh, most of you are to young to rememer how we cheerd him on new years day when he smashed it up Capes style. | ||
