Nice squatting (slightly less) big man! Does your equipped squatting get much of a carryover to unequipped or do you have to work them separately?
AvatarIainKendrick
Nice squat!

I'd sure like a host of lifters around me when squating, especially when suited. My 75kg training partner is not going to be much use when the s**t hits the fan. Even with supports it's nice to know you've got real back up!

Lol! One of the newbies on Sunday lost it on the squat and started to walk away and leave it to the spotters. Even the Missing Link can't upright row that much!
AvatarIainKendrick
To may shame I almost did that at the Unequ brits, as you saw. Instinct cut in! Thankfully for the spotters I can take an order and was able to get back under it!

Good squat.

thanks folks, i think i could squat 250-255 when fresh, but i am actually considering ditching squatting for the time being and really hammer my deadlifts with 100% focus.

willsan, aye man i think there will be carryover at least in terms of losing the fear of bigger weights. But of course to go back to raw squatting i will need to drop my weights quite a bit and learn to dig out of the bottom raw.

Plans are being hatched, plans are being hatched...

ADLINGTON!

Deadlifts
5x90
5x137.5
3x175ish
2x205
2x210
2x213

off platform:
2x175ish
1x195
1x200

long way to pull!

relatively happy with deadlifting today, good starting point.

Strict press
5x50
3x70
1x80
fx90
3x85

...and not happy with pressing.

front squats
4x70
3x90
3x110
2x130
1x140 - forearm cramped so didnt go for the second rep as i was planning to, so instead did:
1x145

...and i am LOVING these clean grip front squats Grin Treating my front squat PB nulled now and building it back up with the clean grip. Hoping to pass my old bodybuilding style front squat in maybe about 6 weeks time? Time will tell.

off to finland & sweden on weekend so no addlington and strongman for a while.

Good sess mate, those platforms made the pull veery long indeed.
AvatarBoar
good sesh mate, how was kenneth ? i trust you n mills got along with him ?

have a nice weekend!
AvatarRick
You can pass your old front squat mark any time you do them half-way fresh, rather than having blasted your quads with heavy pulls and platforms.

Another great session today, man.
AvatarJoni
thanks guys, aye i guess the fronts would be much stronger when i hit them fresher, but as it stands i always do them after some other work Grin

Kenneth was lovely! Trustworthy, solid, stable, and just fat enough - perfect platform, thanks Boar. You escaped silently (like a ninja) before i had a chance of discussing the intricasies of Kenneth.

Please do not ditch squatting. I beg of you. If you squat your deadlift will also grow. If you only deadlift your squats will hang.

AvatarJC
good training session buddy

have a nice weeknd in Scandanavia
AvatarJoni
thanks JC!

Henny & Thing, i think you are right, so maybe something like this:

Monday: clean (&jerk), bench press (Joe The Terribles Terrible Bench Press Routine), front squats

Wednesday: deadlift, deadlift off block (sometimes), some kind of overhead press, raw back squat, mostly light, sometimes testing waters

Thursday: wanky conditioning

Saturday: strongman event training

this would hopefully keep my squat groove going, but not really take anything out of my deadlift effort, which has to be the focus.

what exactly does "wanky" conditioning involve? Happy
