Yeah managed to get the morning off work so gave it a crack. Went in cold which made the first 10 minutes tough but I enjoyed it. Gradually caught and passed a fair few people after getting dropped before the bloody climb. I much prefer climbing to flat riding.

There's some mad people in those races though. People were repeatedly attacking me on the climb and then finishing minutes behind. Flying on the flat then sinking on the climbs etc.

I'm starting to think of a plan to get the FTP up to 350. I'm
Thinking April might be my target.

The Bluetooth is to connect to your phone, no?

I'll be 68 when (if) this f**king thing is paid off.

Got the deposit sorted. It's now just a question of persuading the bank to actually cough up the money. While I understand, I find it bizarre that mortgage repayments considerably lower than the rent you've been paying for four years might not be affordable....

I've considered the vectors. I guess I still am. What's the lowest price you've seen and where?

I nearly bought a second hand SRM recently but had to behave. I'd quite like an Elsa RS. They seem to be getting mostly good reviews and I'd be happy for a crank system even with the hassle of swapping it over.

I'm in the process of trying to secure a mortgage so trying not to think about cycling stuff.

And failing badly.

Shoes
Wheels
Power Meter

Steve said:Not good OJ.

I've had problems joining rides. The thing that so far seems to sort it for me is if I don't get the invite to join by four minutes to go unjoining and rejoining on the phone app.

the bloody thing even asked me if I wanted to go to the start line, I clicked yes, and nothing.

My commute is long enough to keep my legs turning over ok and my base is pretty good. I guess I've earned that much. I've done some pretty big blocks of training this year too.

There's either some cheating bandits on zwift or some bloody good athletes.

I suspect both.

It's really annoying. I want this to work for me but it feels to me like this is still in beta. Far too many faults for it be a finished product.

I made do with 3 repeats of box hill all under 8 mins, think my times were 57,49,44. Had to dig a little for the last one.

Then it wouldn't let me start a race I'd joined.(and rushed home for).

It didn't.

dr_hazbun said:Fair play mate. Having fun is what it's all about. I went running yesterday for the first time in a while and I spent the whole 42 or so minutes thinking 'I want to be on my bike'. So guess what, from now on I'm sticking to the cleats for most of my training and bringing out the running trainers only when the bike is broken or the weather too crap to ride a bike safely. Running has its place with its simplicity and pure efficiency but no one has enough time to do stuff they don't like.

Oli (the lad I was on about) wants to do Oxford to Cambridge with me by bike in the spring. I thought I was going to whoop his ass but if he's got the sort of engine on him capable of a 1:30 half...

Unless he rides a bike regularly, you'll whoop his arse.

I've seen a lot of very good runners get humbled on a bike, thinking they wouldn't. It just doesn't seem to carry over anywhere near as much as say rowing.

Am I right in thinking you use a Mac for Zwift? When I just logged on there was an update supposedly fixing a problem with Macs.

Yes. I'll check it and see. I'm led to believe its not the same problem, but perhaps the solution will help me too.

That was about as interesting as it was ever going to get on that course. I expected MUCH worse.

Gutted for Cav, but fair play to Sagan, back to back World Champs in the modern era is pretty special.

And blasting up hills is fun!

Great work matey.

What's next?

i think you've got to really want to monitor and plan your training for it to be worth it. But if you do then it has a tonne of analysis tools.

I love the analysis of it. I just can't justify another expense at the moment.
