That's rubbish. Cancelling a comp so close to the event. I'm also not surprised that the turn out is low. If it hadnt been for you guys, id never have even known about it, and im a fully paid up member of BAWLA. Their communication skills leave quite a bit to be desired.

Great pressing Josephine, the back off sets were especially impressive!

I think Adam is the man to ask about belts I have an inzer two prong and love it. I'm pretty sure Adam and Joni love it too.

I think thats a good set of events mate. Those events ARE strongman in my eyes. I dont mind the weights, although a max event would be cool, so id quite like to see log for max. I'll let you guys decide the other weights, as long as there is nothing dangerously heavy then im game for anything.

That looks like it could be fun. I'd add in quite a bit of lat work though, especially if you are benching twice a week. I'm a big believer that your lat work should at least equal your pressing work, in terms of volume and strength. In fact id add quite a lot of assistance to that, but then I like assistance.

What are your goals mate? and will it be a fairly standard split, ie squat, bench and two pressing? or how would you like to split it?

And the medley should be something like a tyre flip and drag, or a tyre flip and duck walk, or a tyre flip, stone carry and drag. Basically, it should have a tyre flip in it.

I gotta be honest, I think farmers holds are pretty rubbish. Why not make it a walk for distance, you'll still be testing grip strength heavily. Plus to me, farmers walks are synonymous with strongman. Farmers holds are synonymous with BORING!

How many times a week Josephine, twice?

Or how about we do it like some of the proper comps. We pick two weights for every event. If you do 1 rep with the heavier weight, you place above the guy who does 20 with the lighter weight. That way, we all get to pick to go for the real heavy s**t, or the slightly lighter, more team friendly lighter weight. So, if we did log, we could have log for reps, two weights, 105kg and 90kg for example. That way we can all do the same events, and no one has to worry about bombing a weight. The point, as far as im concerned wasnt a me v jonathon comp, it was for a Sugden v Edinburgh comp. I'm more than happy for me to kick your arse while we're at it, but that wasnt meant to be the point.

Just kidding with you mate, we all know that 250kg for reps would be a Sugden only affair Aint that right Adam?? Im down with that though, after all, I havent picked up a strongman implement for ~2 years. But I think December would be too early, I also think Joni might be away, but im not too sure. I would prefer the new year if possible, maybe mid Jan, help us all blow the Christmas cobwebs away?

Cheers people! Friday 13th October Bench 60kg x 10 80kg x 5 100kg x 3,3,3 - all with different grips, ive now settled on one to work with for the next cycle, it's pretty much narrow, but not my closest grip. 110kg x 3 115kg x 1 120kg x 1 125kg x 1 115kg x 3 110kg x 4 100kg x 6 WG Chins Bw x 6,6,6,6,6,6 Curl Grip Pulldowns 105kg x 5 126kg x 10,10 Finished off with some dumbell side raises and barbell front raises for high reps, just to get some blood into my shoulders. Now, I'm going to have a think about a new cycle for pressing. Im going to go HIGH volume. I have an idea, i'll post it up soon. |
