Opinions on Squat/Dead in same session ?

Anyone do this/tried it/thought about it ?

What's your thoughts ?

I do On tuesday, Deadlift first tho squat after, then squat again Fridays

I did both together on Friday, don't normally but I was short on time this week.
Personally I wouldn't recommend it, as I think the two movements and muscles involved are too similar. I can't give the same effort to both if I do them together.

I like squatting before deadlifts.

I think you get used to it, I'd put what's most important first

Or do speed squats then deadlift heavy or heavy squat then speed deads !

Don't think it would work for me because I do so much heavy lifting and stuff at work. By the time I get to train I'm half way to broken alreadyGrin

I do Deadlift then Safety Bar Squats on a Tuesday, and Squats then SLDLs on a Saturday. Like shane said you get used to it. Although I'm never doing heavy singles in any of the lifts.

My thinking was to do one big session of Squat/Deads once per week with a couple of assistance moves after, which would be alternated every couple of weeks (good mornings, leg press, sldl, 18" pulls.)
This would then allow another session of speed squats later in the week.

as people have said its hard at first but you get used to it. although I am not mega strong statically so take this with a pinch of salt I have pulled pb's then squatted pb's and the other way round, so I wouldnt worry about the order you do them in either

plus it might come up in a comp that you have to do both so best being used to it imo

I'll Squat first and then do some SLDL or Deadlift off blocks, maybe some farmers holds

When i Deadlift i'll do 2 variations of deadlift, rows and then maybe farmers holds

I just treat them as lower body days, then have a upper body day inbetween them.

So i pull every 4 days, squat every 8 days, press every 4 days.

I am thinking of throwing some lighter Squats in though on Deadlift days.

Thx for the comments, what has struck me is the time its probably gonna take me to adjust. There's a national comp I wanna do in 8 weeks so I might leave it until after before dabbling.

Powerlifters do it, after all you will max squat and max deadlift at a meet.

I squat then deadlift every Wednesday have done for a while , I tried splitting them up and doing deads on a different day but It just felt weird , I have squated a pb then gone on to deadlift a pb

Andy bolton does it. When i trained with bulldog we did box sqauts first 5x5 the 15" deads 3x3 the leg assistance leg press,leg extensions and calfs
