how it happened:

Power in the Park 08:

Prep for this was ok aside from my deadlifting. coming from a decent performance at barnard castle I just had a couple of sessions before this so not much training but I think might have helped as I felt fresh before the comp and energy levels were high throughout.

Deadlift
220kg in 60secs x 2

deadlift prep was meh as ive not pulled properly since londons strongest because of injury so I wasnt expecting much. Id have been happy with 1 but got 2! good for last place only but was prepared for it so it didnt faze me.

Pressing Medley:
80kg, 90kg, 100kg logs + 110kg axle

was looking forward to this and wasnt disappointed. made a mistake in treating all the logs with too much respect. they were all easy and I took too long with them. I knew the axle would be a bigger challenge and I didnt make it easy for myself. I left a lump of chalk next to it to chalk up before but when I got to it it was crushed into the floor. must have trod on it going between logs lol! made a pigs ear of the clean because of grip and failed the press first off. managed to recover and nailed it! noone else managed to complete it so I got my first event win! back of the net! Cool

however, made a big f**k up on the axle by following the bar down. f**ker bounced up and smashed my thumb. swelled up and was very painful so I was a bit worried about:

Axe Hold
13.5kg for 39secs

took the strain on the axes and got an excruciating stabbing pain in my thumb and nearly dropped straight away. managed to just zone out on it and block out the pain to get 39 secs. if id got past 45 secs my points would have been alot better but pleased considering my thumb was f**ked. it was lucky the farmers were cancelled as I dont think I would have been able to do it.

Stones
95kg in 60secs x 6

came into this tied for third so I was hoping for a podium if I got a decent result. nailed 6 reps to tie with tony an another guy for 2nd. wasnt enough though as the winner of the event got 8 and pipped me to the 3rd spot. couldnt have done anymore in the time though so im pleased with it.

best ever placing, event win and my back didnt go - cant ask for any more than that! Cool Cool Cool

got to say thanks to jason for organising a great comp despite the best efforts of the pissing rain. organisation, kit and the small but lively crowd were quality. put my name down for the next one mate! oh yeah cheers for the flowers too lol!!

also got to say well done to tony. great performance on the deadlift and stones, just got caught out on the IFSA log. a bit of practice on the big logs and youll piss those weights mate. sorry I didnt catch you before you left. I look forward to competing against you again mate!

well done everyone who entered and thanks to jason for putting this on found everyone to be friendly and really enjoyed my day out, really pleased with how I got on with it only being the second time I've touched a log and the stones just need to get some practice on the equipment.

Mixed bag of nuts for me again.

220kg Deadlift 9 reps, pleased with this.

Pressing medley, failed the 100kg log. Shoulder just wasn't having it.

Crucifix 28 seconds, again I think shoulder f**ked it for me.

Stones 6 reps, again pleased with this. Feel better with the stones each time out with them.

Full write up and vids tomorrow as I'm off out to get f**king lashed.

Big thumbs up for JT for putting the show on, will defiantly be back next year.

Also over the moon for Will, my goal was to beat him but on the day I got no where near him. Well done mate and happy anniversary.

f**ked shoulder in a comp with 50% events shoulder events = trouble Grin

deadlift repping is beastly man, and stones are coming along nicely!

well done mate!
