Strong UK representation there, great to see.
Is it quite normal to have it hosted in the same country again?

Actually looking at ball licker's list he's missing off Thor (Iceland strongest amn) and a few other countries strongest men. Don't they qualify too?
VanillaGorilla24/07/12 @ 12:47
There are usually 30 competitors, 5 groups of 6 with the top 2 from each group going through to the 10 man final.
This isnt the final list, hence the request for updates as they come in...
I would expect Thor from Icelands SM to get invited. Also the national winners from Norway, Canada, Australia, USA and one or two others.
There are usually one or 2 'wildcard' type invitations at Colin's discretion it would seem. I anticipate 2 more invitations for Brits, and possibly another USA athlete depending on who wins USASM.

And as if right on cue, I hear that Chris Gearing has received an invitation
Well done Chris!

Since Top Ten from the previous year generally get an invite, that would mean these four also qualify:
Brian Shaw
Derek Poundstone
Hafţór Júlíus Björnsson
Stefán Sölvi Pétursson
I've heard that Stefan may be taking a break from strongman though so his spot might be open. I doubt the winner of ASM is going to get an invite this year with so many US athletes qualifying and since it is the end of August this year.

As per Craig, Stefan isn't competing this year.
