WILLSAN said:so is the 'train push' they switched out for the train pull in the quals the same as the turntable or something different? Different. Think "Wheel of Pain" from the Arnold but they only go half a rotation.

WILLSAN said:do we have details on the giants medley and the turntable? Not really. All we got is that medley is yoke into frame carry and weight could be 425kgs-485kgs for yoke and 325kgs - 375kgs for the frame. They are using the barrel frame which seems to have more flex and less harsh grip. The turntable is for time or distance to complete 180 degrees.

I’ll have to figure out my predictions for the Finals but for the sake of accountability, comparison to what I thought would be the case and what is the case with the qualifying heats. My Predictions Group 1 – Boudreault/Shaw Group 2 – Mitchell/Stoltman Group 3 – Richardson/Caron Group 4 – Pritchett/Bishop Group 5 – Novikov/Stoltman Actual Group 1 – Shaw/Boudreault Group 2 – Mitchell/Stoltman Group 3 – Caron/Melsted Group 4 – Janashia/Bishop Group 5 – Thompson/Stoltman The one thing that really skewed by results was the loading medley having that heavy frame at the end. I had been treating it as a speed event and that frame really changed things up and it was too late to redo predictions after that detail was released (and drop outs for injury). I had no one having an easy time qualifying based off of point breakdown, ties and countbacks with only group 3 having someone with a decent lead. Can’t control things like injuries and such (Hollands, Hicks, Pritchett, Singleton, Van Der Linde). Things I got wrong besides the obvious was underestimating the improvement in JF’s overhead, both Stotlman’s grip, Melsted’s ability on the train push/pull (he had also compete the week before this) as well as Hansson’s on same event. Pritchett coming in banged up is the norm and I assumed he would be on point like last year due to no comps. Singleton allegedly had a stomach bug that kept him from keeping food down for 72hrs so that could explain the first two days being off. The oddly specific things I factored in and got right was that Shivlaykov would screw up on the train event (slipped). The man has a problem with his feet on these events. Also had that both Stoltman’s would go to the stone off and win (though I had their opponents wrong). I had Oberst making it to the stone off and losing again. I had with Group 2 that despite having the higher max deadlift, Singleton would get 4th behind Stoltman, Mitchell and Felix.

Must have been bad source on Hollands as he is still competing and got 3rd in deadlift

LessThanLuke said: Was a heavy old run. 5th stone was almost 200kg. 6th event of a very heavy show. He's a bit dodgey on stones when they get above 180kgs. He's had a lot of biceps issues and tends to struggle with heavier loading events.

luki said: Pritchett is notoriously bad with circus dumbbell so he probably figured that he was going to be last or near the bottom anyways. So push for 1st here for max points. He did. It’s a bit s**t for Pritchett and Caron that they went all out on max hummer deadlift, then totally winded for the next event.

1 Caron 1202 lbs World Record 2 Pritchett 1159.5lbs shortest WR Novi and Bish went out at 1100. Trey Mitchell 1080 A lot of people jumped lifts so was hard to follow final placement. Circus Dumbbell 1 Novikov 8 reps 2 Shaw 7 reps 3 Caron 4 reps (there might have been another 4 rep) Athletes were really winded. Some taking O2 due to altitude. Stones Shaw 35 sec Trey Mitchell 36 secs Caron 57 secs Novikov fastest 5 of 6 stones 33 secs. Didn’t try 6 as knew he good for 3rd and couldn’t catch Caron. Luke was fast too.
