Ok so I bought some 2.5m knee wraps not for competing, just to use from time to time in training to get used to heavier weight on my back and see if I get any carryover. Anyway I have a couple of Q's which are probably really stupid/obvious, but anyway;

- Firstly, should I stretch them as much as possible when putting them on, or only slightly?

- Secondly, should I avoid having too much fabric behind the knee? (ie by using a alot of the length above and below the joint). The reason I ask is I tried wrapping them earlier following a youtube vid, and it felt like I had so much fabric behind my knee that it would probably hurt like hell to hit depth lol. I know this is probably the point to get that push out of the hole but it did feel excessive (bearing in mind I am only around 78kg and have tiny joints). Is there an optimum number of revolutions around the joint itself?

Thanks

from a powerlifting point of view as tight as you can and if there hurting there working i get brusing when i use mine

but from a general training point of view just wrap them loosly and you will get used to the pain its annoying at first but you get used to it

Ok thanks for the reply. If pain is expected then that's fine, I just thought it was abnormal and I might be doing damage.

Right.... knee wraps.

The more painful they are, the more you're getting from them.

As you descend, if they are tight enough, you will really not want to go down at all as it will HURT.

Imagine someone puts a knife to your throat. The tendancy is to pull away from the knife. Getting carryover from knee wraps is like pushing your throat back against the knife as hard and as fast as you can.

I've often wondered if I was wrapping too tight, you have just answered my question.
Cheers Tom

You should be wrapping so tight, that the wraps are completely stretched out to their max as you are putting them on.
