OK I read that its not good to suffer from bad DOMs,yet how you supposed to train hard and not get them. Squatted Thursday 4*4 set, heavy as I can go and my butt and legs are killing me and it will be like this until Sunday. Its always this way. So is it really bad to have DOMs or how am I to avoid them and train hard?

I just accepted that doms are part of my life now - just tend to get on with it. Maybe right but i maybe wrong - i try not to overthink it as Lee has said.

DOMS are apart of training so IMO accept it. To minimise the effect stretch after training and in the morning of the next day. Don't take ibuprofen everyday

So basically if you can put up with it, just get on with it? But is it a good or bad thing? Or just one of those things. Silly questions I know but I'm new to powerlifting/training

I used to get really bad doms the second day after heavy squats and lasting 2-3 days , what really helps me is to keep the muscles moving thru a full rom immediately after the workout and the next day , for example if I get home from the gym at 9 I keep stretching and moving my legs till 12 when I go to bed , I do plenty of bodyweight squats during the 3 hours , first thing when I get up the next morning and throughout the day ( do get some funny looks mind Grin ) . I think that by keeping the muscle moving you dont leave the stiffness set in and your also promoting blood flow through the affected muscles so lessening the effects of doms , I still get the nice ache that lets me know ive had a good session but without the "red hot poker" feeling I used to get Cool - hope this help mate

Trained as a kid for a few years and just titted round in the gym, took 20 years off and been back 18 months Training as hard as I can. To keep going to the gym I took up powerlifting as I know I'll never be a body beautiful :-)
