And there lies your bias why is a dog of more worth than a cow, sheep or pig? You just have an emotional attachment to them. Dogs are working animals in some countries and when they loose their economic value or become an economic burden the are culled like any other animal.
In korea Dogs are a food stuff does that make Korean's evil for eating dogs? No more evil than you for eating cows it's just another culture.
Your logic of decrying the death of dogs is only consistent with in itself if you think the killing of any animal is evil.

Yes, but they are actually very clean animals, they turn over the straw in the bedding every day, and only roll around in mud to stay cool.

Its a very fine line though Joni
Animals used for food/milk/whateva else in this country aren't purposely mistreated, they are just kept in a way that is economically viable for both the producer and the consumer
Dont get me wrong, 1000s of chickens cooped up in some s**tty little shed to produce eggs, is a pretty horrendous thing BUT......
if this were to change and you had 1000s of chicked, wondering arounf 100s of acres of land, it cost the producers more, and therefore the consumer
This kind of change cant happen overnight. Eggs cant be 1.50 for six (I dont but eggs, so dont know if thats realisitc), and then six month down the line be 6 quid for six
If we were to abolish the meat industry, as it is in the UK at the moment, I'm sure producers would lose money, some would lose their jobs, and it woul;d have a huge knock on effect for consumers

Why is eating pork not allowed by certain religions? Surely this came about due to concerns over health risks. I'm also assuming 'Kosher' and 'Hallal' foods have their roots in early food hygiene practice???

Its to do with them being "dirty" animals i.e. living in "dirty" conditions, and it would not be right to eat such a dirty animal.
Doubt its for health reasons, more "purity" reasons, like not swimming on Sundays and not masturbating.
