Pompy | This is how people get in financial trouble! | 28-04-2010 @ 13:07
My opinions have run their course Member 694, 3112 posts | I have a credit card with Barclaycard, the limit is about 7500. I have just had a text out of the blue (didn't even know they had my number), saying my limit has been increased to 11250! For f**ks sake, I didn't ask for it, don't want it. I thought it was meant to be harder to get credit nowadays, that's just silly!

Hyper obese Pete Member 70, 17899 posts SQ 322.5, BP 205, DL 300827.5 kgs @ 133kgs Eq | Just because someone gives you a drill doesn't mean you have to start drilling holes in things. They could make my limit a hundred grand and I would still only spend what I could afford to repay, It's called "not being a complete muppet"

Still mostly bodybuilding Member 501, 10465 posts SQ 220, BP 150, DL 250620.0 kgs @ 94kgs UnEq | Self control is the key. Ive got 2 creditcards with credit limits of between £5-6K limits plus up to £2k overdraft facility but i owe a total of around £300 between both cards and am never in my overdraft. If i didnt have any self control then i could afford to kit my gym out with everything you would ever want.

My opinions have run their course Member 694, 3112 posts | i do not spend on it, there is a relatively small balance on there but nothing compared to my annual salary/old credit limit. i can exercise self control i didnt mean i am worried about going on mad spending sprees, i just dont think its a great idea giving people such easy access to credit

Eat.Cycle.Sleep.Win Member 2, 12511 posts SQ 190, BP 150, DL 280620.0 kgs @ 99kgs UnEq Administrator | If it's an issue for you then do what Joni did and get it reduced. The thing is, they obviously dont see you as a credit risk and so are quite prepared to lend you the money. It's quite likely that those who have low self control with credit cards arent going to have the best credit ratings and arent likely to have money chucked at them. Someone I know got a letter from a credit card company saying they had ben pre selected for a credit card, they had got his name wrong though, he sent the forms back and a few weeks later received a credit card with a £35k limit on it (I didnt even know you could get normal credit cards that high!) and with the wrong name on it. Funnily enough his house was for sale at the time too. Good thing he's an honest person.....

I had a 7.5G limit, missed one payment (forgot) and it was reduced to 3G immediately
