Errrm. When do you understand that it first came out? 80's Poland? 70's East Germany? 50's and 60's Soviet Union? NAZI Germany?
I'm pretty certain they did do plenty of research on it. Certainly more than they ever have on any type of creatine.
Right or wrong I'd put money on Dbol being one of, if not the, most researched sports supp globaly.

(from my limited knowledge on it) i always thought d-bol was produced in Nazi Germany (probably to aid in his new powerlifting fed Grin) for the production of so called "super soldiers"

Anyway lets not fill up this thread with naughty steriod talk.

I think the general advice is stick to monohydrate!

We in the west did as much towards the develepment of steriods too. Not just the evil narrzzies!

as we're going off topic...is it necessary to take a break from using creatine? ive always taken a month off every 3 months or so.

I'd of taken out a few ice shelves in Greenland too, before getting back into my DeLorean and taking that baby up to 88 to travel back in time and, errrm, meet yer mam.

Not really, creatine supplementation essentially saturates the amount of creatine and in particular phosphocreatine in skeletal muscle.. In the long run taking 2-3 grams a day will suffice. However, not taking any creatine for a few days at a time is unlikely to effect the amount of creatine in your muscles.

Agree with CP. Once loaded I'd only take every other day of on training days etc.

Dose is weight dependent to some degree and I'd prefer a daily dose of 5g in general.

One of Jim Blanchflower's students did their dissertation for him on Creatine mono vs CEE and the conclusion was that there is no evidence to support any benefit to CEE. I'll ask him to post on here later in the week with a little more detail.

I take mono, its cheap, it works, it doesnt taste rank

DBol???

For what its worth I have been buying this cheap stuff off ebay called ceemax. I bought a 1kg tub and find it great. I like it better than monohydrate as you dont have to drink it with glucose or grape juice to let the body absorb it. It does taste bad but monohydrate and glucose is even worse in my opinion. CEE is like downing a vodka shot.

You do not need to take creatine with anything for it to absorb. In simple terms the body loves creatine and soaks it up no probs! It's a very important molecule.

It dose however need some help to speed up the process when you are already close to peak concentrations. Here carbs/protein and exercise will help. However a cup of grape juice dosn't contain enough carbs to elicit the insulin repsonse used in the classic research by Greenhoff whomk used a virtually unpalatable amount of sugar (cira 90g). Better is the 40/40 CHO/PRO used in another study (name escapes me). Performing exercise is your simplest way to improve creatine uptake at the end of a lodaing phase (Hultman et al. I think).

The biochem is beyond me but those whose biochem and muscle metabolism is truly expert generally scoff at the idea CEE.
CP
Essentially what Paul Greenhaff and Eric Hultman showed in the early 90s is that creatine transport into skeletal muscle is insulin mediated. Initially this was demonstrated using just carbohydrate but a 50/50 carbohydrate to protein mixture will illict a similar serum insulin response itself.

Hultman and a guy called Roger Harris published a paper around the same time showing that exercise also augmented muscle creatine retention. So taking creatine during or just after your workout with a drink that will increase your blood insulin levels would seem the best way foward.

Essentially whatever form of creatine you put in your mouth will end up as the same thing by the time it reaches you cirulation - so the majority of new creatine preparations which claim to increase creatine 'bio-availability' need to with stand the 2M hydrochloric acid in your stomach before they reach you small intestine. I think this is where CEE may come unstuck.

Roger is my phd supervisor. I've met Hultman too, but unfortuntaly missed the lecture he gave and had to settle for idle chit chat at dinner with the rest of the department Happy
