With a sore low back (apparently sat wrong doing some geometry problems this morning) and unreliable bowels, late and or of sorts, in a room smelling of (I assume) woodworm poison, today's bargain with self was squat properly and go. So I did.

I loathe this heat, but it's starting to look more and more like my body doesn't, at least as far as training goes. I'm really surprised by how well this is going. Another 10kg on every set of hack squats today, and it still wasn't a limit. BW slightly down from when gyms reopened (but only very slightly).

Two more hours of table tennis. This was tough, it was very humid and I just couldn't shed the heat. Allegedly I've improved a fair bit, though, and my fitness is definitely way up.

Huge amount of work been done in the machine room, and a vast improvement. Plus, the shoulder press machine is gone pending the delivery of another one, which means I don't have to do it. Much too sticky again, but nudged the weights up and felt decent.

Have you been watching any TT from the Olympics. It's definitely one of those sports I only watch every four years, but the crazy speed and accuracy is quite enjoyable.

I've been recording every bit of table tennis Eurosport's rubbish tagging let me find, except the bits cut off because they apparently also didn't know how to send a "program overrun" signal. I was happy that the first day they had Adam Bobrow commentating alongside a woman who very clearly knew nothing about table tennis whatsoever, and the second day their regular commentator alongside her, but now we just seen to have her. At least she has the good sense to stay silent most of the time rather than just making s**t up. But their coverage has been piss-poor. Yesterday, half an hour of dead time zoomed out between matches while we could *hear* the biggest upset of the men's singles going on (from Harimoto shouting at himself) but not see anything.

I haven't been following any event diligently enough to record anything. There's probably plenty of footage on the web channels I could catch up on.

French TV coverage has its faults*, but at least they always have an expert/former athlete helping commentate for every sport.

*I heard that they missed a judo fight because the French lady won in 30s, then for the next one they tuned in way too early and everyone was treated to 10 minutes of the cleaning crew disinfecting the tatami.
