I'm really enjoying this work at the moment, I'm expecting a little disruption over Xmas so may even repeat it. Evening session! To make up for a lack of food for the afternoon session I ate a fairly large cottage pie immediately before doing this Row - 25 min UT2 set to Just Row 6240m, 2:00.8/500m, 20 S/M, HR 135 I knew I was going to get cut short but thought I might as well get some more m's in, felt pretty decent for it as well. brings weekly total up to 96,402m

Decided about 5 minutes in to drop the HR a touch (not that I'd reached top end UT1 by that point), probably a good idea as it still felt like a long hard session. I'd have usually gone out for a run tonight while the kids are out boxing but took it off, hopefully back on form tomorrow nice and fresh

old age traveller Member 332, 7976 posts | Always good to listen and take appropriate action. An open question, when training to a HR band I see you like to get in that band and then slow to stay in the band thus almost the whole session is in the correct HR I sort of do the opposite and like to gradually build the pace to finish at the top of the HR Which has the most benefit?

Nothing left in the tank. Member 5, 25597 posts Administrator | imagine not going out for a run ??? I would try for the constant HR over the steady build

The best way to do that is to hit the HR early on and then keep it there. I have actually chilled out a little on this recently, I used to do the first 1k or so of a UT1 session at about 1:40 pace I could easily be convinced to train either way, certainly most training sessions of other rowers I've seen do it the way you do it rather than the way I do.

Average pace on the UT2's is getting better with not as much of a slow down towards the end. I think my pain tolerance for the longer rows is getting a little better, although this was getting pretty bad on the backside for the last 15 minutes or so.

Although I am enjoying the UT2's they are also quite mentally tough, about 45 minutes in the thought that I was only just half way through was quite hard to take I'm guessing it's going to be a day off tomorrow unless I manage an early evening drunken row, which is actually quite appealing now I think about it!

It was meant to be 4x13 UT1, I may be able to catch the meters up before the end of Sunday
