I am not in a solid place emotionally today. I think schools being open still is putting a lot of people in harm's way. Including parents, and - most importantly, OF COURSE - me.

I'm in lockdown and working from home.

FitNotes Workout - Monday 23rd March 2020

** Pressups **
- 10 reps
- 10 reps

** Reverse Table "Rows" **
- 10 reps
- 10 reps

** Free Squats **
- 10 reps
- 10 reps

Done as two circuits, rest in between, untimed.

For the "rows", I'm lying on my back with my head under the table, grabbing the edge, and pulling up as far as I can - since my left elbow has only about 110° range, this ain't as far as I'd like.

All so very strange.

It interests me what people are doing without the usual availability of kit.

Me too!

I think in some ways this is a real opportunity for me to heal, balance up, and maybe even get some desperately needed mobility. An enforced six months off the weights might actually be a good thing, as long as I don't just succumb to sloth (which I won't, because I already have more than enough little health issues thank you).

Abandoned the table rows because my inner forearms were absolutely killing me (and not for the obvious lock-in reasons...)

Are you going to make it progressive? More reps?

Yes, that's the plan, gradually. I'm being brief because I want to look forward to it every day, not dread it and soon stop. I'm also being very careful because I'm nursing this f**ked shoulder, and my absolute priority is not to damage it any further. It's not like I can get it looked at any time soon...

How long is your work closed for Rick? I believe that imperial college are planning a 12 month shut down with a 18 month contingency.
Any plans to remote teach?

I haven't seen and can't see anything published from Imperial suggesting that.

We are remote teaching our full timetables and will continue to do so until schools go back. All our boys have iPads, which makes it doable. I hope that we might be back at the start of September, but nobody really knows at this point. I think earlier than that probably implausible, but again nobody really knows.

It's harder work than being in school, with worse outcomes, but that's why we need schools. Hopefully we will continue to provide something our parents and boys continue to value in the interim. I think we will.

Nothing published yet. Apparently they are waiting to see what the reinfection figures are like once Wuhan has it's population mixing a bit more freely. Time will tell I think.

It's good that you can at least carry on though. Do you think that this could bring about a culture change and a different way of doing things for your industry or will it be back to BAU once everything is lifted?

Short answer is no. It'll change some things about my personal practice - I'll probably take all homework in electronically from now on - but it's vastly inferior to actually being in class with them.

Stopped doing most of it because it seemed to be aggravating my duff shoulder quite badly, and it's not like I can go and get treatment on it. I'm going for occasional brisk walks in quiet areas (not today, though, the sunshine will make it too crowded), and I'll start working things back in carefully if I feel I can.

Also feels a bit daft logging this absolute nonsense here, though tbf that applies to about the last five years of my general training.
