The Wrwtched and To get to the other side done back to back. Feel like I'm getting some form back.

I enjoy To Get To The Other Side as a slightly less all out session. A hard video with TGTTOS straight after sounds a good idea.

Final few days at the tour. It seems quite common that some of the hardest effort of the day is near the start of each stage (before the tv cameras). Must be a horrible way to ride - batter yourself with 3 or 4 hours then to go.

knocked 10 minutes off my PB for a standard 24km ride i do in the week inbetween rugby sessions, crazy! Quite a head wind on some sections as well. Chuffed with my purchase.

Now, i had a WTB saddle on my mtb which was always pretty good, certainly better than the original.

The seat on the cannondale is like a razor, even with shorts. I believe its too narrow for me.

I did a bit of a google and there is loads of talk of sit bone width, hip rotation etc etc. All got a bit much to read through.

Has anyone got an idiots guide?

Cheers

I found my first saddle on my Cannondale to be exactly the same and changing it made a huge difference.

I suspect "proper" cyclists might not approve approve, but I really like the ISM Adamo saddles.

Been having a look at these cycling days around some of the countries motor racing tracks. Look a bit pricey, but nice to do on occasion. Anyone any experience of them, positive or negative?

there was a charity ride around thruxton race circuit that i did.

It was quite good fun. The serious guys were rapid!

one guy averaged 44kmph on a lap!

Will respond to some of the other posts later, but for the time being - 'a very dark place' must be the most aptly named of the sufferfest workouts.

Slightly different to what you are asking, but I used to race occasionally around Darley Moor circuit if there were no road races on that weekend and hated it. I enjoy cycling for the freedom you get, what you can see around you, etc. Circuit racing was dogs**t and the lack of climbing made it even more infuriating.

probably more to do with rider ability lol

the charity event was as many laps in 2 hours as you could manage. i did 10. after the 3rd it got a bit samey.

I would imagine if you fancy a bit of a sprint/ get some speed up its quite good, but does get a bit boring after a while.

Saddles are such an individual thing that's it's almost impossible to give any recommendations. I struggle a little with the saddle on the CAAD X because it has too much padding and I bounce around a bit on it. I'm used to minimum padding and find that more comfortable. Sit bone width is important, but it's trial and error to find a width that fits you well, or head to a shop that will have multiple widths for you to try (although this is rarer than it should be). With hip rotation I'd suggest you looked at saddles for the less flexible anyway, as I can't see you wanting to adopt a particularly aggressive position for long periods of time.

A pretty simple solution would be to swap saddles over from your mtb? Or look up the width and get a road saddle at the same width. Specialised for example sell most of their saddles in 3 different widths. Good fitting, padded shorts are also a must.

I've done a few circuit races around admittedly smaller circuits and I like them because they're racing. The thought of just continuously cycling round a circuit for a laugh doesn't seem like much of a laugh. You've got some of the best cycling country around, and the money you'll save buys a lot of coffee and cake. I like coffee and cake.

That said, we've had our eyes on the 24 hour race around the Nurburgring for a few years. One day.

I did the Oulton park duathlon (2 laps run / 9 ride / 1 run) and I really enjoyed cycling around a race track , this was befor I had my tri-bars too , if you get a decent day (no wind) I think it would be great fun , esp if you are after a 40k TT Pb or something similar.

I don't normally do the strava challenges , but I will top 8000m climbing in 1 month after tomorrow mornings ride , I get a little (electronice) badge.

new bike being built.

diaphragm still sore , bailed out of the rubicon half ironman. (sadface)
