I'm a bit behind the curve, can someone explain to me who is suing who? and for what?

And what was Lance going to sue for? I realise that normally he sued when people said things he didn't like (that were true), claimed damages against those who said he did things (which he did) and generally shied away from the truth when in court (perjury). Of course I may have got this wrong.

newhybrid said:the IPF needs to realise it has to act in accordance with international law and with the laws of specific countries in which it operates. just because the IPF rulebook states something is a rule, it does not make it legal. thats a matter for legislatures and courts to decide. for example if i was handed a contract of work and told i had to sign it if i wanted that particular job but the contract said if i went to a political rally i'd be fired, the contract would be null and void as it would be illegal.

Quite a lot of employers do this type of thing. The contract to work for The British Heart Foundation states that you will be dismissed instantly if found to be a member of any animal rights groups. According to the contract this is because they test on animals. Illegal yup, but also very common.

The current Anti-PED situation.

It's only pompous wa**ers that are anti PEDs nowadays. Celebrities along with a fair proportion of the upper/middle classes are already enjoying TRT and prescriptions for HGH. While this is still much more common state side, it's becoming more common over here, too.

This doesn't make any sense. Are they worried the person will sabotage their work from the inside? I was unable to find anything about this (other than the fact that several animal rights organisations are boycotting BHF and others, which is the reverse of what you're claiming). If you think about it for half a second, a huge charity like BHF having illegal clauses that everyone knows about in its contracts sounds, erm, improbable. So either the clause doesn't exist, or it's legal.

People snort coke, drink beer, smoke fags and bake hash brownies.
I see PEDs not as bad as these things because people are actively trying to improve themselves in some way through it. As long as people aren't acting like bell ends on what they do I don't see the problem with any of it at all. If you're natty, compete in tested feds or untested. If you're enhanced, compete untested or you'll end up called a bell end for trying to dupe someone out of THEIR title or record.

The whole stigma is simy due to politics and some kind of public perception that is frankly born out of naivity regarding sports and what athletes in every sport actually do.

I did a search for Ed Coan to see what this 'hippo face' thing was all about, but mistyped and got a picture of Dan Ackroid http://cdn.newadnetwork.com/sites/prod/files/styles/gallery/pu...

I got there eventually. I think hippo face is somewhat unfair.

This thread is tedious. Has anyone got pictures of the T-shirt-less Swedish powerlifting girls?

This is something the NIPF have been actively working on to try and ensure that if somebody is to come back after a ban that they really have paid the price. A two year ban before was practically pointless but at least 4 years now is a bit more of a chunk of a lifting 'career'.
Now lifters returning from bans will have to pay back the federation the cost of the test if they want to become a member again. Also they have to return any trophies they may have won at the competition in question. Both these are required before a banned lifter can apply for membersship. The NIPF also erases ALL records (not just ones set at the competition in question).

That is good.

Must I? Wouldn't it be easier if you admitted that your ramblings about international law and whatnot stem from an unexplained hatred of the IPF rather than from any actual understanding of legal issues?

Well then, it's probably legal. Or BHF are giant clowns and it would be easy enough to call them out in public.
