Swedish affiliate nearly got themselves barred from international competition over allowing females to deadlift without a tshirt on underneath their singlet. Kicked up a right fuss on Facebook over it. I don't recall what happened in the end but it was about this time last year.

Insula is Latin for 'Island'

f**king amazing coincidence.

Solitudo: desert, isolation, loneliness, solitude

Therefore: 'Insula Solitudo'

Loallygags. When i finally get my lifting kit, I'm gonna e-mail the IPF and ask if I'm still elligable to compete in powerlifting because I watch an Ed-Coan video by accident on youtube.

I read the other day that WADA are getting sued by Russia's biggest bank for some kind of misappropriation of funds around athletics and TV rights. Wonder who the governing bodies will turn to for moral guidance should it be proven that WADA are as corrupt as any other of the sports organisations currently in the news.

That looks more like a sign that Wada are doing things right.

I'm not sure if that's correct. Why would WADA have had anything to do with money from TV rights?

I suspect it's more likely to be to do with libel/defamation. You don't sue somebody over stealing funds.

A Russian bank paid the IAAF and extra £17million before the 2013 World Championships in Moscow. I think it has been suggested that this money was in part a bribe to cover up positive tests.

With Russian Athletics currently suspended from competition and ineligible to compete at this years Olympics I wonder if this is simply an attempt to in some way discredit WADA.

reading this I feel like I am the only one who can potentially see the logic in this. IPF follows WADA guidelines about not allowing those who have been banned coach active athletes.

in this case Coan has a lifetime ban therefore the IPF wants him to have nothing to do with those who CHOOSE to compete with them.

Well, WADA apparently receives about half it's funding from the IOC, who get a proportion of their revenue from TV Rights, but without knowing what story LittleA was reading....

Of course you can sue people for stealing funds - I'm not sure what you mean by that?

Sue for what. Upholding a high standard of drug free ethos which its members are clearly aware of?

Tbh I personally don't think the IPF should ban lifters, or threaten to, for going to the seminar of a banned lifter, but it's hardly a big deal.

I do agree that officials, and any kind of accredited coaches shouldn't be attending events of this kind. The 'Lance Armstrong' anaology is pretty apt in this case.
