How?

He is stronger and faster. Pudz has no advantage over him in any event.

Just watched all the heats. I thought Danny Wallace was actually funny in the last heat.

Maybe stronger but not faster, pudz speed and stamina was unbelievable. End of the day you don't win 5 wsm for nothing

Thor is not faster than Pudz. Anyway it matters not. Both guys never competed against one another.

You can only rate someone in their own era. Thor would need to start winning WSM to be compared to other greats.

Pudz isn't the strongest ever, but he is possibly the greatest strength athlete. Some people forget how dominating the man was at his best.

like I said before - pudz only dominated because of the split. look at the athletes who went to ifsa. would he have the wins he did with those guys in the mix?

yeah like I said earlier in the thread -

ill give you 03 but both z and virastyuk beat pudz in 04, and in 02 z wasnt far off in a final with no pressing event.

if you look at the atheletes who competed in ifsa in 05, 06 and 07 and still think that pudz wouldve 'dominated' with them in wsm you are smoking some good crack.

He absolutely domininated a WSM final before the split like nobody else has ever done. A final that included Z, Virastyuk, Samuelson, Karlson, Girard and Bergmanis. Probably the best depth of any final ever.

Personally I think Pudz would easily beat Thor on events like Hussafelt stone or Conans. But it would be an unfair comparison because Thor rarely does that sort of event so probably rarely trains it. Just like it's unfair to compare Pudz 1 rep max on deadlift etc. Didn't he tie Z for reps in the final in 2009?

I see you have changed your post.

presumably after looking back at who competed in ifsa in these years.

if you think pudz wouldve won back to back wsm titles with z, virastyuk and misha competing we would just have to disagree.

pudz was a great strongman no doubt but he benefited from the politics of the day.

As someone who wasn't into Strongman at all in the IFSA days, how was it perceived by fans?

Were they considered equal? Did anyone give a s**t about IFSA? Did Pudz dominance get questioned at the time or just recently as we look back?

Danny wallace had a few funny 1 liners. He was annoying at 1st but ok by the end of it. Shivilkov coming as a bond villain. And the bloke who kept losing his hat

Pudz came second to Z in 09. He beat Shaw, Terry, poundstone etc.

If my memory is correct, he was coming off an injury and most wrote him off.

Mariusz might not have dominated if Z had still been competing.

I'll tell you another myth. Z hasn't dominated WSM. Brian has been his equal the last 5 or 6 years.

Since 2010 when Shaw started to be a serious contender Z has won 1 Arnold's and 3 WSM. In that period Shaw has won 2 Arnold's and 3 WSM.

I believe Z to be the greatest ever which means Shaw has to be right up there as well. Part of what makes Z so great is that he has had to fight with two other all time greats in Pudz and Shaw.

world strongest man is at best subjective, more importantly, dependent on events.

Fun debate but its like asking how many apples in a barrel of pears. The answer being lemons.

JP Sigmason will always be the man because I am a child of the 70s.

One other thought however, thoughts are weightless...

I see Thor as the Ferrigno of strongman...that his Lou left bodybuilding with the greatest genetics never to win because acting became his main focus. I wouldn't be surrounded is Thor did the same.
