Worth the wait Pete, that was great deading! I don't know how you lower it like that with 260 either, I think it would kill me.

Simply awesome Mr Pete, even the last one left the floor at some licks.

Thats off a standard 260x3. 260x3 with those slow negatives should get you more still.

Wonderful stuff Pete. The last rep was actually the best. You have certainly hit good form at the moment.

You look a lot comfier over the bar nowadays than you ever have in my opinion.

Wednesday, 1st October, start 17:00

Some time ago I had pencilled in a 260 double, but things had gone so splendidly on the way there I was really with no choice but to try a triple. Today was that day. Many thanks to Andy Coupe for the video and the posting of it. Also many thanks to all above for all the kind words. I moved through these at a fair pace tonight, the whole thing took only about three quarters of an hour.

First the details

Deadlift, raw, slippers, no belt, me and the bar on the floor
60 x 5
60 x 5
60 x 5
60 x 5
60 x 5
now we begin
100 x 3
140 x 3
180 x 3
200 x 3
I had debated whether or not to go straight to 220 and omit the 200. Handsome Jeff bollocked me for thinking about things and I realized he was right. This is neither the time nor the place. So I did the 200.
220 x 3
240 x 3
Now it gets serious
260 x 3
The first was the hardest and I didn't get my shoulders back enough at the top. Given time I could have but given I had two more to do, I decided that near enough was good enough and carried on. The second was much better, it doesn't look much different on the video but it felt much better. Everything felt braced. The third was also a good rep. I held the bar for about as long as I held the 250 for last week and lowered it quietly. There was a difference though, last week I held the bar for this long as I felt that was enough but I could have held it for longer had I wanted. Tonight I could not, there were signs of movement so down it went. There was no rush, but it was harder than last time. Time to stop now. 260 is as far as this goes for the moment, a light one next week which I will enjoy as my back feels tired. It was not so tired that I couldn't bounce girl number one off every wall in the place in the traditional Wednesday manner, but that to has taken it's toll. Rest and a light one next and more rest and all will be well. By the by girl number one commented on the warmth of my hands. "You've been deadlifting haven't you?" she asked. I am an honest man. I admitted it.

Yes, about that. Although I said some time ago that anything over 600 lbs would be gravy. I still think that. 280 would be very nice.

Steady, steady now, let us not get giddy. You are correct of course, but gently does it for the moment.

Thank you Bim, you are a better DLer than I. I owe much to library put-downs. Many think it bollox but it works wonderfully for me.

Thank you. I like to think that it is not accidental. Much planning went into this about six months back if you recall.

I feel it too. I am comfier and more confident. I suspect the fact that I do many more reps in "death by" with a weight that I don't have to think about has helped a lot

Well done Pete. Crazy how the 2nd and 3rd reps were better than the first.

I suspect so too. I also suspect that Alan will be looking down from wherever he is and he will be snarling "I f**king told you you needed to be over that f**king bar a lot more than you were", it appears he was right!! Happy

It's often the way with me. The first is an unknown, the others are based on the first. It's a sod but that's the way it is.

When was he not ?

Mr. Coupe suggested a glass of port to celebrate, I will do that right now. I will toast Mr. F while I am at it.

Cheers.
