I also want to start Zercher deadlifts again. Something strangely satisfying about them. Thanks. Z DL's are probably satisfying because they take away nearly all the advantages of using a barbell as opposed to lifting an odd object. Speaking of which, I think using a regular barbell instead of an axle might give me the extra cm or two of space I need to get under the bar.

Doms the next day? I've no repped half a dozen events or parts of events over the last two years. My character is HENCH! I'm a tad sore today, but it's probably leftover gainz from Saturday and/or the effects of those 3 minutes of silliness. My last 6 DL sessions have all ended with a set of 9-11 reps at 175-200kg, so I think I'm accustomed to that sort of thing.

Yesterday: * Bench ... 85x5 95x3 107.5x9 I got the 10th rep but it was ugly. Th s**tty bench was sliding on the platform all through the set, messed with my concentration, not to mention my line. * 1 arm dumbbell (thick grip) ground to overhead: worked up to 45kgx1 each side. Technique has improved, I think. * Erg 1500m warm-up Peak power session: 2 sets of 10x10" on/1' off, full strokes, looking at best stroke of each rep. Best 986 W (1:10.8/500m), worst 915W (1:12.5), average 947W (1:11.7)

no longer the Swiss Deadlift record holder Member 3517, 3368 posts SQ 182.5, BP 122.5, DL 255560.0 kgs @ 90kgs UnEq | Second SM competition of the year went down last Sunday in the South of France (60km north of Montpellier), under cloudy skies and a bit of rain. But our spirits were not dampened!!! or some s**t. There were 8 competitors, including one of the top two French Open strongmen, 2 newbies, the top 105er from last year (nursing some sort of knee injury) and a bunch of other 105ers. - Truck pull (8t, 12m?) Done in 25s or so, 4th place I think. No major issues, a bit of a slow start. Still plenty of room for improvement. - 300kg yoke into 140 kg farmers, 15m (20?) each. More like 310 and 145, in fact. The yoke got me cold, I almost fainted after 1m. Second pickup was better, but it took a few drops to cover the 15m. Farmers were a high pick up but short and wobbly in hand. I stopped after 10m or so because it was getting ridiculous, but amazingly there was no time limit (reffing was a bit amateur overall). A couple of guys finished, but in almost 3 minutes. - 350kg tire flip x6 Tire was slick and muddy from the rain, but I didn't struggle too much. Not sure of the time, but I think I finished 5th. - DB medley: 45, 52, 62kg Again, couldn't lockout 60+kg. f**k. Tied last. - Anvil carry 120kg 10+10m, from the ground. Not sure how to lift/hold it, tried some sort of Zercher lift but that didn't work out well. Managed to waddle for a few meters. The next guy up found the trick (one hand on the square end, one hand on one of the feet), and everyone after copied him. I tried his technique afterwards and I would have been fine. Tied for 6th overall (but the points seem a bit weird). Not a bad competition, but 300kg yoke and 140kg farmers is still heavy for me. And obviously overhead still sucks. Disappointed about that fuking anvil. I was pretty battered Monday and yesterday. I'm going to take an easy week and resume training next Monday. I've got until June 21st to get ready for: DL 240kg x reps Yoke 300 15m + FW 140 15m (yet again) 140kg stone x reps Log max weight Arm over arm (wght unknown) Full video recap (not the DB medley, strangely)

Technique is rotten (can't get my hips close to the bar, and they pop up as soon as I start lifting). Conditioning: 5 rounds of 5 DL at 110kg (50% of daily max), 10 burpees over the bar. Done in 3:39. Got caught up with other people's scores on the blackboard, like a proper knob, and gave it a serious go. Finished with a couple of sets of double-unders (45, 42).
