The first 2 minutes or so were on purpose, but I would have preferred to hold 1:32 straight through Grin

This morning:

DB WINDMILL
3x3/side x12kg. Fat Gripz on last set, didn't change much. Felt pretty easy with fresh shoulders.

FAT GRIPZ DB OVEERHEAD
1X40 cl+j, 1x40 snatch. Getting reacquainted with the movement.

LOG
1x47, 67, 77. Awkward. First time doing log since late August last year.

YOKE x20m
140, 180, 200x6. 200's in 11s or so. Felt pretty good.

DB PUSH PRESS — Slow excentric
Reps 10 10 10 10
5/sidex 22, 32, 26, 26. Left arm wasn't happy at 32kg.

PULL-UP — Pause 1s at 90°, 1s at the top, 1s at 90
4x5x10

Aren't we all, around here? Grin

When I'm not doing whatever you see in my journal, I'm sitting at a desk, so it evens out.

Did an ugly but moderately flexy thing or two in between sets this evening. Think of it like the guy who squats 100kg for the first time, but it's more of a good-morning and 2 inches high. It's a "milestone", warts and all. Tongue

While it's a very impressive thing to do and something I am 100% certain I could not do, I'm not sure you can call that a rep. It's more like a static front raise squat. Grin

Some impressive training and competing of late.

That triathlon sounds horrible - like a dream I used to have that I was running away form somebody but not really going anywhere.

I'm using a loose definition of "overhead" : the bar is higher than my head Grin

I knew that feeling was familiar!

Ha ha!

To be fair, I think more weight on the bar would actually help lock it into a better overhead position.

Saturday, u90 Strongman competition:

280kg Yoke 10m+10m
Heavy. Dropped it once on the first length. 2nd place.

Megalight tyre flip 10m+10m
Thought I was pretty fast, but only got 3rd place.

OH medley: 40kg DB, 80kg axle, 100kg log
Snatched the DB, touch-and-go cleaned+jerked the axle, cleaned the log (press was never happening). I'm pretty sure only one guy pressed the log (yes, it was a particularly weak field), so I was surprised to only get the 3rd best time on the first two implements. Or maybe I got 2nd? Confused

Stone over yoke, reps in 90s, 100kg@1m
Lulz at the height, the shorties would/should have struggled more if they'd kept it at 1m20 or whatever was initially announced. Anyway, managed 10 reps, should have got a 1-2 more but I fumbled around a bit at the end. 1st place.

Truck pull, 9T tractor, harness+rope, 20m?
Had to lobby for us to do this instead of some stupid hand-over-hand. First truck pull in years, still the coolest event (this one was a bit light but at least everyone could do it). 1st place

->2nd place overall u90 (haven't seen points/times etc, don't really care Grin)

We were lucky with the weather, only a few raindrops. Good atmosphere, nice to see some familiar faces and a lot of new ones. We were taken from the hotel to the site in a Hummer limo Tongue but sadly the rest of the organization was a bit shabby (lots of avoidable downtime before it got started and in between events, some equipment issues that we sorted out on our own). We also got a silly amount of shakes/bars/protein crisps that the gym wanted to get rid of, so can't complain Grin. The only real negative was when one guy dropped the 450kg tyre on himself and broke his leg Unhappy

Next up will be strongman again, in Switzerland, July 10.
