It is your right to enter it (if Neil allows you to) just as it is everyone else's right to b**ch and moan about you glory hunting.
Will you really get any satisfaction of throwing up an 85kg log when you've done a 140kg? Really.......

Who slim sim?? b**ching!! More like stating obvious that's all! Yer he has only done a few comps but he proved he was good in the yorkshires by placing 6th. Novices are for people who are just starting to get strong and fancy ago. He's obviously strong so if I was him I would mix it up with the big lads! Yer he has the right to enter but why! What satisfaction would he get out of it going in knowing he's going to win! Keep training mate and go for big comps next year!! If your already pushing a 140 log after 8month just imagine what u would get after a year training!

I'm not implying anyone in this thread is b**ching and moaning. He seemed to imply this is what is occurring in general and it pisses him off. Personally, I don't think he should enter a novice comp, not only because he has won one but also because he's done reasonably well in inter/open comps.
I think he'll be smashing the opens in not that long if he's so strong already.

I saw someone get rejected from entering a novice comp because they had entered ESM U90kg southern qualifier and came last out of ~15. I thought that was a little unfair.
However, I don't think you are a novice, but if you want to enter the comp to gain more experience, just do it.
That said, surely entering comps takes at least 1 week, if not 2 weeks, out of your training routine, so who would want to enter a comp their very likely to win just for the sake of it? Better to get an events session in down the gym and continue getting stronger, rather than semi test the gains?

If it was me i would read back all these comments and take the view that i wont do the comp.
Are you strong? - without a doubt
Will you gain the respect of your fellow lifters doing a novice comp? - no
Is been crowned Yorkshires Strongest Novice worth been called a trophy hunter? - no

Was a really good comp yesterday, (it was dam hard) thanks for putting it on and for everyone who helped it run smooth,
I do think that if mat Bingham did compete it would have made it very interesting as the guy who won it had a 310kg deadlift so it would have been good to watch them battle it out.
I didn't do as well as I hoped (made a few mistakes) but as a novice I suppose you learn with every competition, just need to get stronger now and step up to the opens and keep gaining experience.
Once again thanks guys, was nice meeting everyone.

I think you are being very disrespectful here. Ignoring the want to glory hunt as others have picked you up on it.
What right do you have to belittle others? You don't know how hard others have trained or the effort they have put in. Not everyone progresses the same from the same effort.
Some people might put more effort in than you but be gaining less currently.
You are too strong for novice, but that doesn't give you the right to be disrespectful to other competitors.
