It was straight when I put it in the rack, and kept adding weight, walking it out and putting it back. at 320 it bent a fair bit, but straightened when i put it back. At 370 it bent and stayed bent. Not a little bend, propper banana shape, so had to bin it.

Its a great bar for cleans, oh work, and anything else if not heavy. I just wouldn't get it for my only bar as it is nutt suitable for everything I want to do.

If I were only getting one bar, and need it to do all things without costing the earth i would get the texas bar. If money was no object i would get Eleiko ones, but it is sadly.

Buy the best one you can. I have a standard strength shop barbell at work and it is good, and came at a good price. Have used a Eleiko wl and pl bar though and you can tell the difference. Sounds like the texas bar is of a very good quality too.

I've seen this bar knocking round a few times and I'm always curious. Has anyone used one before??

I've never used one but imo surely it has to be a good bar. The psi rating is very close to the texas power bar, but at half the price. I've copied and pasted its stats below.

Premium grade bearings for smooth operation
Durable, brushed steel finish
28mm grip
Yellow, high visibility end cap
Spring steel, heat treated to HB400
185,000 psi
Tested to exceed 750kg
Length: 2200mm
Diameter: 28mm
Weight: 20kg

After all if its tested to exceed 750kg surely none of us are going to load more than that on one.

That spec is pretty much identical to our weightlifting bar, and as others have rightly said, regardless of the load rating, they aren't up to taking the weights that it's 'rated' to. Quite possibly come out of the same factory(s). Great bar, if never going above about 250 (this is probably conservative, but would rather be), but if you're moving over this, always recommend going for a Texas/Okie bar (or Eleiko/Ivanko/Taishan). Will last forever if cared for, and hardly lose any value because of the fact they are so long lasting. Bigger spend initially, but worth it.

Pendlay weightlifting bars are nice. Tony had one and it didn't bend with 300k+ on it. Lovely for pulling on and overhead as it was very 'whippy' . Big Rick (fatneck) bought it off him and as far as I know its still alive and well.

Pendlay bar is as good as the eleiko bars i've used previously, i've also got the texas power bar, wich is also an excellent bar, but the pendlay is the better of the 2 Wink
If you have the money to spend, go for a proper good bar, it does make a difference. You'll be lucky to get hold of a Pendlay over here though, but the Texas is a good cheaper option

thanks for all the replies, texas bar sounds like the best option. how about benches then, what everyone got? and has anyone used these tri grip designed plates? are they as strong as a traditional plate?

I haven't been able to find any Pendlay bars, they used to come from strength power speed, but now they don't have them
