Depends if you want frame to be a test of grip or not. Straps completely changes the limiting factor in the event. Tacky on stones makes it easier but either way it is limited by back strength and mobility.

Straps on the frame seems quite similar to a heavy yoke, which is already in there.

no surprise shaw saying what he has their but z previously losing points on stones he used to have a massive belly affecting reach etc he has noticeably trimmed that down more recently which should make a fair bit of difference on the max/larger circumference stones , my moneys on thor he is rapidly improving as of late I think he's the hungriest for it as well

He is compared to Shaw on stuff like a 550lbs stone.
As I stated before..
Dumbbell gone from thick handle to think handle...benefit to Z. But I actually like the thin handle.
Straps added to frame carry is a huge advantage to Z...should be 900lbs no straps.
Got rid of stones for a 3 step yoke....500lb stone for reps would be good.

He beat shaw last year at wsm on stones

Don't know. I don't pay that much attention to them doing a 400lb stone on wobbly platforms.

All I know is when it comes to 550lb stone, Shaw dominates. Only person that was close to him was Poundstone...even Thor becomes not so great on stones when they go heavy.

Just check previous Arnold results on stones.

As strong as ed is I think he'll be way down on the frame and yoke and the deadlift can be awkward if you're not used to it. it's between z Shaw burke and thor for top 4 I'd say. Unless lalas is back to full fitness which seems unlikely.

The events are the events - Shaw needs to get over it - there will always be some that are unhappy with the events. They would all love them to be tailored to their strongest events. Z has proven over a 15 year period he is the greatest ever, he doesn't need events to be tailored to him as he proved at wsm!! Z is also the greatest static strongman ever so just because Shaw would beat him on a heavier stone, it doesn't mean it should be included!! Shaw is just your typical moaning Yank

I'm banking on Ed having improved his moving events/ the heaviness and short distance of them playing in his favour. I don't see Thor being a contender tbh - as far as I know he isn't a 200+ logger, and I think his best deadlift is "only" around the 420 mark? I hope I'm wrong though - he is my favourite strongman, and keeps improving at the Arnold every year...
