Mighty young Joe Member 675, 2271 posts SQ 272.5, BP 180, DL 275727.5 kgs @ 114.8kgs UnEq | Hi its joe walton, i've kept a log on powerliftinguk for a while but this site seems alot more active, and fun. I'm 17 years old and 105kg bodyweight, competition pb's are 260kg squat, 150kg bench, 255kg deadlift. Working alot on technique at the moment as well as my sticking points in the training block i have set up, current 3 weeks into an 8 week squat and dead cycle and 3 weeks into a 10 week bench cycle. I'm hopefully getting on the Junior team for the worlds in brazil and this log will show how im building up. Squat I've been having trouble with depth in my suit and have just spent 3 weeks touch and going a box well into depth in my suit, with no belt, so im getting certain of hitting depth. Bench Working in the shirt on my main bench day all the time, doing 5 sets of 2 then trying to beat it the next week, this is to a board and then every 2 weeks i drop the board, last 3 weeks i have done. 5" board 160 3x2 ( dont ask about other 2 sets) 170 5x2 4" board 162.5 5x2 (aiming to go for 167.5 for 5x2 next week) Dead I've had great gains doing the 5/3/1 for a while, i find repping on deadlift incredibly hard and always pull over 20kg more in competition than in the gym. But went into the competition underestimating my strength, had only gone to 220 in gym, and pulled an easy 255kg, missed a 265kg to a calf cramp causing the bar to dip but even that felt easy. As such this cycle is designed to improve my starting speed, deficit deads, and get me used to feeling heavier weights, mid shin pin pulls. i alternate these every week, the cycle is shown below 3x5 deficit 1rm pin 3x5 deficit 2rm pin 3x5 deficit 2rm pin 3x5 deficit 1rm pin Sorry if this has been boring i just thought i'd put in some background, being the nerd i am i like reading the details .

Mighty young Joe Member 675, 2271 posts SQ 272.5, BP 180, DL 275727.5 kgs @ 114.8kgs UnEq | Should have done speed squats after deads but someone was squatting so went onto bench, and didnt have time to do it at the end. Deficit deads (thick rubber plate and converse) 70x3 150x4 195 3x5 (add belt, 5kg increase from last time, felt easy but blew up face) Bench 60x6 80x4 100x3 Add 2" board 120x2,3,3 (did 3x3 last week, felt very hard)) Remove 2" board 100x5 DBell Bench (improving speed of chest) 27.5 x8 30 (plate weight) 2x8 40 (") x3 ( should have done 37.5 as did 3x8 on 35 last week, got stapled nearly) Skull crushers ( random hammer curl bar) 12.5 (plate weight) x8 25 (")x8 Felt very weak on upper body, it may look slightly body builderish with the dbell but i can feel the improvement off my chest already after only doing it for 2 weeks.

Mighty young Joe Member 675, 2271 posts SQ 272.5, BP 180, DL 275727.5 kgs @ 114.8kgs UnEq | Thanks guys, haha not quite a genetic freak yet, im trying as hard as i can though lol. The deficit deads are standing on top of the plate to increase the ROM so its harder at the begining, and there is one hell of a lot of ROM lol, have to keep technique or it turns into and exaggerated stiffleg, i pull close sumo btw.

Was quite dissapointed in the squat on that comp everything else was ok, technique was a bit shaky in places.
