Theres no leg drive, walk out of rack then press it with just the shoulders.
Avatargood4gains
how come u are only able to do 70 for 3 reps but u can bench 140-150 raw will doing bench pess not strengthen your over head in anyway?????
Joseph_Walton
That shoulder strength is all from benchpressing, this is about the 3rd time i've done any shoulder work, first session doing strict press for more than one set, did it as warmup for pushpress.

arghh i get you dom u reacon you could strict press 100kg just i wasent sure if i done bench press wether my oh might increase too??
Joseph_Walton
I tuck alot on my bench which uses my shoulders to intitate the press, i couldnt do 100kg but i imagine it will go up and help my bench (it works both ways but i think OH is more beneficial to bench rather than the other way around). Its definitely an untrained muscle group due to my ability to go back and punish them again and again, i couldn't train with that much volume on the bench.

Thanks to Marc Giles i wont have to bench raw, he's kindly offered to lend me a bench shirt of his. Didnt get to training friday but had a good deadlift today, perfect technique on the 240kg, which i was very happy with.
Block pulls conventional
70x5
120x5
170x5 (add belt)
210x5 PB
240x1 PB
170x8 PB (very easy)

Strict OH press
40x5
60x5
65x5
70x5 PB

Bench
60x6
80x5
100x5
120x5
ADd 4" board
140x5
160x5
170xf
no board close grip
110x7f8
120x4

Got the bench shirt from Marc after i'd come back from the gym so gonna have a try in it on friday, looks like a very nice shirt. Dissapointed with my squatting but there was no one around for all the squats up to 300 so was waiting around for ages for people to come and spot so might have cooled down.

Bench (whilst i was waiting)
60x6
80x5
100x5

Squat
100x5
150x3
200x1
250x1 (straps up
280xf (dropped it back on the racks and fell forward)
280x1
300x1 (add knee wraps)
310x1 (alot harder than it should have been was going to go 320 but didnt feel fast enough on the 300.)

Bench
60x6
90x5
120x5
130x4f5
140xf (still feeling it from monday)

The chance of having a crack at 331.5 seem slim to none but i'll see if its possible to give it a go on the day, i dont want to attempt a weight i've got no chance with but I want to give it a go, even a slim chance a world record is still worth a go.

Good session today, need to go again in the shirt to get in the groove properly but feel confident in all my lifts now.
Deadlift
110x5
150x5 (add suit bottoms)
190x1 (add belt)
210x1 (straps up)
230x1 (sumo, was going to be opener but felt stupidly easy)
250x1 (2nd attempt)

All the block pulls have brought my back strength up so feel confident of getting a good pull in despite only properly deadlifting for the last 2 weeks. think 235 then 255 will be good choices for attempts, and give me more options on my 3rd.

Bench
60x5
80x5
100x5
120x3
Add 46" fury
150x1
165x1
175x1 ( jacked the shirt down and gave alot more pop, touched a bit low though)
185xf (touched too low and just no oomph, also elbow went a bit funny)

I'll have another go in the shirt on monday, would like to get 185 at the uni's, if i adjust the shirt between attempts to get more pop off the bottom i think that will go.
Joseph_Walton
Deadlift
70x5
120x5
160x5 (add suit bottoms
200x1 (suit straps up)
230x1 (add belt, sumo)
250x1

Bench
60x5
80x5
100x5
120x3
add shirt
150x2
165x1
172.5x1 (planned opener, didnt jack the shirt down as much nice solid rep, have to watch as the bum shuffled)

Feel the most ready i have ever felt for a competition and really looking forward to giving it a go, just eat and relax for the rest of the week.

Are up at 125kg now?
Joseph_Walton
I'm 112kg at the moment, not a permanent fixture just doing it for some records, if all goes to plan and i get the 331.5 squat and the bench and deadlift goals i've found out i'll be getting 5 commonwealth records and 6 british records, i better get some commonwealth ones as some bugger has beaten my squat record from the british seniors, thats the 2nd one which has been beaten now.
