Todays session (25/09/09)

1) CAMBERED BENCH (PAUSED)

1x1@110kg

2) IPF SQUAT

2x3@210kg
1x2@210kg (smashed back of the rack with the bar and ended up knees on the floor, long story short Phil said no more squats or pulls to be safe )

3) PAUSED COMP BENCH (WITH SIGNALS)

5x2@120kg

4) DB ROWS

3 sets

5) STANDING PRESS

3 sets

NOTES;

Bit of a shame about today, squats were terrible to start with anyway so not bad in retrospect haha. Once I got to the 3rd set I was expecting 5-6 sets of 3 with 210kg, which would of been a solid amount of volume at 85% ish. No biggie though, knees feels fine now, will speed squat on monday, next week I will go to 220-225kg for volume, then its deload time before comp!Grin

Todays session (28/09/09)

1) ANDERSON SQUAT (PIN 2 ~ AT STICKING POINT)

1x1@240kg (5kg or so to spare?)

2) HIGH BAR SQUAT

1x3@100kg
1x3@110kg
1x3@120kg
1x3@130kg
1x3@140kg
1x3@150kg (add belt)
1x3@160kg
1x3@170kg (all good speed)

3) STANDING PRESS

1x6@70kg
5x6@60kg

4) DEADLIFT

1x1@250kg

NOTES;

Little tester session for the squat, groove was well off but still managed to hit a +5kg PB. Elbow was killing after the squat (didnt use chalk) so went high bar for some speed, all very good. After comp it will be interesting to see what kind of high bar I can hit, still got my eyes on 220kg. Standing press is improving, all paused on the chest, definitely look to push out 85-90kg after comp.

Deadlift was solid after all the squats, keeping the deadlift percents down this cycle, especially since I am hitting significant squat volume prior to deadlifting. Considering that, it went well. Bodyweight is holding at 104kg now, no more beer or meals out from here , drop the carbs aswell then I should only have 2kg to lose the day before Nats.

Back in Saturday for the big session, plan was squat 220kg for 3 sets of 2, pause bench 122.5kg for 5x2 and deadlift 250kg for 3 sets of 2 but after this session not sure whether I really need it or not? We'll see what happens. I will bench either way. I'm happy with the progress this block, cutting max effort 12 days out for the squat and deadlift may be the best idea considering....
