at your level i think you could make a a lot of gains with something simple like strong lifts 5x5 or starting strength linear progression

To everybody else; for my own interest - at what point do you think 5/3/1? Is there a limit?

5x5 is 5x5xbar, then straight into one rep max. Short & sweet.

8 sets of 5 @ 70% 2x a week.

Add 2.5 kg a week until the workouts become difficult to complete then start a different loading pattern.

Make sure you move through good positions maintain your trunk throughout the lift and complete each rep at a good speed.
