Wiegieboard said:I was feeling it bad yesterday too Ross. I just felt like an old man when I was walking up to the bar and a little of it was probably to do with the s**te pumping out of that ghetto blaster.
You were pushing hard on those inclines so well done with that. There were some good numbers going up.

Allen, just in case the palace is closed, I'm in the process of clearing a free session for us in Wishaw sports centre for next Saturday. Benefits for you include making bodybuilders feel like delicate little flower petals upon witnessing your lifts at 82.5kg.

Yeah thanks mate, I'm going to repeat that weight next Saturday to get the 5x3. I just could'nt be bothered after that, had good intentions, just no energy, truth be told could've just stayed in my bed yesterday rather than get up for the gym, we all probably get days like that, hope it's a one off.

We should all probably go up to Wishaw then to make some bodybuilders feel inferior...think it'd be good comedy value outlifting the huge freaks!

That's good news the palace is open Saturday! Good shout getting a back up in place just in case though Neill and yeah sounds like it could be amusing showing up the bodybuilders at some point lol! Grin

I'm gonna train at Venice on Fri and Mon (palace on Saturday ovi) because Strathy gym is shut over easter weekend. Anyone fancy joining me?

Tues 30/03/10 Introduced the belt today to squats, so expected core to feel great after all the beltless work of the past couple of months, lower back and hams still bit unrecovered from Sat despite deep tissue appt on Sunday. My overhead standing presses are up in weight too, starting to get heavy!

Squat:

70kgx8,

120kgx5,

150kgx4,

172.5kgx4,

185kgx2,

185kgx2,

185kgx2,

185kgx2,

190kgx2 (next weeks weight and best tech today),

190kgx2 (another set as felt solid)

some rest then onto standing presses, each first rep done as powerclean to get it to sit on chest before pressing. warmup shoulder dislocationsx50 closer grip now,

Standing presses:

50kgx5,

60kgx5,

70kgx3,

80kgx3,

80kgx3,

85kgx2,

85kgx2,

85kgx2,

85kgx2,

85kgx2

My core was absolutely done after this, session took 2 hours, glad I'm off next day! the cleans were difficult after the squats, they were slow especially the 85's but I was thankful to get them, funny thing is II'm getting better at pressing from a dead start position even when I've run out of air after the clean or if the bar didn't reach high enough on the chest after the clean I still managed to recover the press, so am very pleased with progress here.

Good session buddy, looking strong as per usual!

Yeah Oly lifters squatting ability is insane, I love watching videos of them lifting, so impressive!

Nice looking session Ross. Well done with the overheads too.

I'm jealous of those Oly buggers myself. It's the speed at which they squat that amazes me, hence the fronties I've been doing.
Still planning fronties yourself at some point?

Yes, when I start training on Thursdays again in the near future, plan to add them in with lots of back work only on this day from now on.

One of my favourite powerlifters Wade Hooper, his training was what inspired me to take up sheiko methods, also links to all his other youtube training journals on the right handside drop down.....

Training today, decided I did'nt need to deadlift today, I now go by feel each week, as I can confidently say I can take a week off and deadlift heavy the following week with pretty much any weight up to my max, so really just focussing on building my raw squat, my incline and my overhead. decided I needed to throw in some upper back as upper body pulling muscles have been neglected for last 3 weeks as done nothing for them for agess which is unusual for me, when I come back training 3 times per week I'll devote Thursdays exclusively to upper back/lats/bis only...by that I mean heavy rows and heavy chins nothing else just to balance out strength symmetry.

Inclines:

warmups: 40kgx12, 60kgx8, 80kgx5, 90kgx4

working sets: 100kgx3, 100kgx3, 107.5kg@5x2 hard but got them all!

single arm leaning press: 20kgx8, 25kgx8, 30kgx6-felt this on the shoulder ended!!

weighted pullups: bwt+10kgx6x5

Thats it, then a well earned McD's with Allen and co afterwards, glad I did'nt fry myself with deadlifts, I know squats will be good because of this when I do them on Tues, back was tender on Tues this week from deads last Sat it is the percentage of my bodyweight that I'm pulling takes ages to recover which kills squat day, so once every two weeks should help my squat even more.

Another Favourite of mine, Jaroslaw Olech, used to be Wades' rival in the 75's, however Wade moved up into the 82's, this was footage of Olech's warmup, made 300kg squat look like nothing and very fast 275kg pull as last warmup on deadlifts:

good sessions there mate.

Good session today buddy and some awesome vids you link to there as well!
AvatarWiegieboard
Good blogs Ross explaining your methods and fantastic vids. Olech was frightening to watch. That 300squat looked like a 60kg warmup. Incredible.
