Hello mate, glad to see I wasnt the only (ex) bootie on here!

I left last April mate, left for my ex-wife and then swiftly split ha ha.Didnt like the job i had, was threaders and thinkng of maritime security, did the SSO course then landed my job in the airport, its been great.

Remember counting down the days myself, that last year is gruelling. You got anything lined up yet?

I'm down near london mate so should you ever find yourself down this way for some crap detail and need a place to train got loads of kit in my garage now. Where abouts are you, up near Edinburgh?

Maritime is Great however they are getting cheaper workers indians etc now happy with £150- £200 day rate , Still SOLACE PVI & MAST Only taking on Marines and SF they are still Paying £300 - £ 400 a day So if all fails Will contact PVI as my old CO is the director Happy

Only trimmed the top of finger requiring a plaster but f**k im very lucky !!!!Eek

I'd hear the bubble burst a little with the maritime, heard some horror stories too! And as you say, you tend to leave the corps for more home life not less. Offshore sounds like a good industry to get in mate, was up in Aberdeen not so long ago and saw lots of flash cars being driven by the oil guys ha ha.

Yeah looking to compete more next year, did my first comp a few months back, knew I'd be a bit out of my depth but wanted to get a feel for if I enjoyed it before I spent a year training for it and didn't like it. Loved it though so have been looking about for more but my work schedule at the minute is pretty much every weekend which is also a fecker for finding 'events days' to train with other blokes, training on my own at the minute which is tough and is why i've accumulated a scrap yard in my garage ha ha. Hopefully next year with more training I'll be a bit more competitive, it's so different to the sort of training I did in the corps as you know.

Where you posted at the moment mate?

I did rear party at 42 in my last year for Auriga (think that's the name), it was good for the phys that's for sure.

I've manged to scrounge a good few bits, and too have been hitting up strength shop pretty hard ha ha. Got some atlas stones delivered the other day as well, definitely got to work on the technique I could barely move the 105 stone, and that was supposed to be my light 'for reps' one ha ha.

Training is looking good mate, when you thinking of competing?

Scrap metal yards are great My cousins husband is a foreman in a big glasgow one thats where I got my 250 chain and even got a solid bar axle from there
I just take whatever needs made up to the unit for the metal smith to weld etc .

Im doing Salt ayre comp next month and a local comp in nov Get urself down for some U105s for next year Happy

The stone was about eighty quids and pallet shipping was about 40 for all the stuff together, it's a lovely bit of kit. Look the business too.

A massive chain sounds awesome. I got a scaffold bar for the axle, and my neighbour donated two mini wheels that while unnecessary look the business.

Definitely getting plenty of comps in next year, getting holiday has been a massive issue this year due to manning, and no one wants to shift swap for a weekend!
