I'm not taking anything away from Thor, he's a great lad and getting very strong but do you really believe he could have pulled that 400 after all the heats and the 3 events before in the final? I personally think it looked to tough for that to happen and if he failed the 400 he would be in the same position as last year. Let's not forget 400 was only good for 6th on the Deadlift last year and by the time we got o that point we were far from fresh

that makes ur pull in the finals all the more impressive terry, what do u think u cud have pulled if max dl was first event in the heats?

He's still so young, whether it be this year or 10 years later, he'll definitely be a strong contender. He's literally got 10-15 years to reach his peak.

yeah true Adam but remember in strongman we use a axle not barbell, and Z is the best 'cleaner' on the planet and has pressed more than Misha on the axle too from the shoulders !

all true, i think savickas' strength is second to none

For sure but not yet I don't think he is quite there

I honestly felt I was strong enough to do 450. I was certainly stronger than I was a couple of weeks ago at the Brits and I lifted more there than at wsm. I was hitting easy doubles with 420 before wsm which I know I couldn't at the moment

I edited this in after you quoted me, but I just want to add to anyone who cares, he's literally got 10-15 years left in the tank, more if he's anything like Samuelson or Felix. While he might not have everything he needs for a win, he'll probably continue to make finals each year and can only get stronger and stronger, permitting he progresses at a similar rate to the rest of the athletes.

you are right, but I think this shows progress (don't think he was pulling 400 fresh before last years WSM)

the fact that he is as good as he is, and is still so young, and very raw, says to me he will be knocking on the door of the top 5, maybe even this year

and the point you make about the deadlift at BSM

do you really think that anybody other than you and Loz at BSM would be ahead of him at WSM?

a 400 deadlift does not mean you are a WSM level strongman IMO

I believe 390 before wsm last year but maybe wrong.

He definitely has the capability to win in the future

No I don't think so.

I totally agree, to be up there at wsm you need more than 400kg

Heres a question as a lot are saying Jenkins will win wsm, do you think he could have won bsm using his max Deadlift of 370 as a guideline?

I don't think BSM was a good comp

Jenkins would have won the Log, the Yoke and the Frame

and Loz would have won the show

make it the full 6 events, and Jenkins would have won though(I expect, I'd have to properly work out the points )

Re what Terry alluded to about Thors pull...I was going to say the same in the DL video thread.

Pulling 400 in an actual deadlift session, is a lot different to pulling it 3rd event, after you've already done a days competition a day or 2 earlier

As a 6 event comp...yes

As a 4 event comp....no

You cant afford to have a bad event and win in a 4 event comp IMO

Not so sure Jenkins would definitely have won frame and yoke. He is capable of it but not a definite.

Yeah, it would be close, and I expect it would have been very close between you and Loz on the yoke had you not made the mistake at the start

I wonder if Jenkins best is still 370?

I would guess he must be good for a bit more now. If not now by wsm I'd expect him to be doing closer to 400

you would think so, and if WSM is 8 events like you want this year, I would suggest Jenkins will be pretty much unbeatable?

(only one bad event, and not losing THAT many points on it, hell if there is even a max pull, reps might suit him ok)

as I think he will beat bigz on OH now, and there will probably be 2 OHs if there are 8 events
