Same here would love to see what he can squat for a single to depth compared to this style of squats he does in his training

uh-oh.........

Perhaps this raises an interesting point. Clearly Ed squats to this sort of depth all the time (all the vids on here he has), and he just came 2nd in the squat at WSM (I think, and yes obviously some others took it easy). Maybe the depth police are wrong, and you need not squat deep in training?

I think there is clearly a difference in what "to depth" is in WSM compared to the GBPF, or similar. Ed does what he needs to do and I doubt he'd become a better strongman by squatting ass to grass.

I was just stirring the pot of s**t! Wink

Interesting... but I think if you get used to cutting depth when it gets heavy then this may become natural to you when you go to a comp.

Maybe, but I would wager Ed had to squat deeper than that at WSM and seemed to manage

Ed has the strongest legs in the country bar Loz IMO.
They would be very evenly matched .
This is a training vid not a powerlifting meet.
When he was required to,he smashed the squat with a ton of good deep reps .
Great static beast and still young ,big props

Dean Bowring would probably have a say in this I'd imagine

Martin - from what I hear, the depth passed at this years WSM was quiet lenient (or should I say the racks on which athletes have to touch the bar meant it wasnt an overly deep squat for some)

Am i missing something here,

Ed posts up a vid of him squatting 340kgs for a double in training. he competes in SM and i doont think he's competing in PL. so why cant we just give the guy credit for squatting 340kgs and not criticise the depth issue.

its either that or i take my face for s big s**t

I'd go to far as say that Bowring has the strongest legs in UK

Bolton & Ross also both squat (squatted) more than Loz I think?

Ed did 9 reps @ 330kg !!!! noone in the UK bar Loz CURRENTLY could do that . Remember 11 reps is the world record from Lalas .

your common assesmnet is that one rep max's are more indicative of who is the strongest (well they are, thats why)

Bowring can squat 420 (maybe more) to IPF depth

yet to be seen if Ed or Loz can do that
