Always nice to learn a new turn of phrase!

I actually LOL'ed when I read it.
I also LOL'ed thinking about all the "he's a very humble guy" posts and then thinking about Ed's post. Not knocking it though, takes all sorts and it was very amusing and true. Many of the WSM winner have been pretty egocentric, it's what pushes them to be the best.
PS. Ed, I think the reason people may not slag you off to your face is because they aren't TOTALLY stupid.......or suicidal!!

That's pretty much it JC. An easy way of setting it up would to be in a power rack, high pins, then lift and have someone pull the pins out.

If you are talking about what benni does, he refers to that as the jeff jet method i believe. He will pull it off high blocks and a partner will then move the blocks (or pins if in a rack), then he will do touch n go reps.
EDIT: benni says it allows him to treble and rep for 5s tng heavier weights than if he pulled it from the floor first

This is just a guess (I've never done this before) but I'd assume so you can get a bounce and get some momentum off the floor? It would be good to hear from Ed his reasoning behind this.

I actually thought about trying this style of dead lift before I'd ever heard of anyone else doing it (I can be quite inventive ), but never got round to trying it. Although your stetch reflex is helping the lift it would get your body accustomed to heavier weights. Partial pulls don't necessarily put you in the position you'd be in when pulling from the floor. Just another tool in the box.
