Really?
He doesnt look much heavier than 105 too me
he'd be well behind the current brit wsm guys...so what would be the point?

Saw Darren in Ireland not long ago, he's stacked. He was never huge anyway, but was more than strong enough to compete on the world stage Happy

Sad really, does seem that if any comp gets pulled its the opens these days, be it wales or england!

And that was with prize money? How come you have cancelled it a good 6 weeks before the comp, was there really no interest? Sad to hear if that is the case Unhappy

straps on deadlift is also good as it tests back strength without grip being a limiting factor and usually theres at least 1 other event that tests grip to some extent.

This over and over. It's not a grip event, so allow the back and posterior chain be the body part that matters.
There is no fun in watching people fail later events due to torn calouses where it could be partially prevented.

Was this the same event that Thor broke the world record for weight for height?

How many games did he play too?

not many im guessing by this:

"Sapp began his athletic career in high school playing football at Mitchell High School in Colorado Springs, Colorado. He received a football scholarship to the University of Washington, where he won the Morris Award.
He was drafted by the Chicago Bears 69th overall in the 1997 NFL Draft. Sapp signed with the Minnesota Vikings after being released by the Bears. Sapp's career took a hit after he was suspended by the NFL in 1998 for alleged steroid abuse. He spent two seasons with the Vikings and only played in one game."

Ah yeah, similar qualifiers would make sense, sorry Happy

I like how they list Sapp as an American footballer rather than a fighter! When was the last time Sapp ran around in his NFL kit lol

I think it would be rather boring to have the same events for qualifier, England's and then of course you'd have to do same for UKs etc etc.
there are loads of events to chose from, just have one from each category and let the organiser choose which they want to do

What were the opens events?

Everything before 16s is pointless :P

once you get in to position it doesnt look too bad, however I'd say bring your feet in a bit and look to push your knees outwards a little as from that angle it looks like they are caving in.

18s, the bar is off the floor a little but your legs are almost straight. You are then stiff legging it up.

Then you hitch it when you have actually completed the rep, no need there Happy

So, feet in, knees out, keep your ass down and back when pulling. You've clearly got more in you Happy

PeteHodgson said:I don't think there should be a120kg class. Its too Late now, but I think 105 is the wrong weight for a class. Should be something like 90 or 95 then 115 or 120,then opens.

There was a recent "worlds" in ukraine for u110kg. so something might be changing somewhere.

I voted yes, but then realised that it would be almost as heavy as "opens" anyway, so no real point.

320kg dead
260kg squat
150kg log
200kg front squat

Nothing special, but a good increase on all my current lifts.

Additionally, for fun, 200kg raw bench. Should be an easy one if I actually put some time into each.
