JC - missed the axle near lockout, didn't have it set right on the chest. Pulled 340 and missed 350, got 4 on the squat (I'll let him fill people in about this one), made about 10 metres with the farmers, didn't finish the duck walk on the medley - said the tyre was tough and head gone. Herculeshold left.

King ham got 3 on the axle, Colin 4 for the win. Tom won the squat with 8 (I think).

Bloody tough comp, missed out on keeping 1st place by 1 point, but after dislocating my thumb on the 5th event, I was always going to be hard pushed to do well at the Hercules Hold. Nevermind. Learnt a lot, met some cool guys and am still pretty much in one piece.

Massive well done to Stan for his performance and Mark Kingham was easily the most improved guy there! Well done mate.

Pizza now!

Awesome day today thanks to mark and all his crew and helpers for putting on a good show

Event 1 140kg ftoh
I was first out and on the first rep I relised the tightening of the clamps had fixed the wheels and smack my chest into the bar managed 3 which was joint 2nd
Happy with that failed my 4th rep

Event 2 15 inch deadlift for max
Out of all the events I was most worried about this as my deadlift is my weak link now I did 300 330 350
365 was welded to the floor for me middle of the pack

Event 3 260 axle squat
Only done a 3 in training but I had spotters and my mate to wrap my knees properly (I normally have to do it myself and its a race against time being a fat idiot)
Knocked out 7 which was awesome first 5 almost felt comfy very bizarre for me. 2nd in squat cause that big bully bigt came out and did 8

Event 4 150 farmers for 20meters
8.2 seconds. 1st place. After beasting those big farmers at the junction 2weeks in a row these felt very easy

Event 5 medley
Did the 7 flips slow as I had a concern that my bicep aids could flair up went at the duck no drops but it just felt like I was going nowhere fast with it striaght in at the first barrel I must have caught my finger some how. On the duck walk or barrel got the 150 up and ended it there to be honest I don't think I would have got the 170 up plus I was worried about my finger with the next event being grip
Don't know the placing but I was probably slowest to get the 2nd barrel

I was sat in 2nd place at this point 2.5 behind tom and half a point ahead of gary

Event 6 hercules hold
Think I got somewhere in the region of 64 seconds I stood to far back and my hands were at an angle as the timer had already started I was scared to step forward as if one side touched the floor that would stop the time so just held it there. Looking back on the vid that was a good idea as I was way over to my left
Think this got me something like 3rd or 4th. Which dropped me down a slot

So 3rd overall very happy with my performance

Few highlights
Logans 380 dead (he looked good for more)
Colin jones axle ftoh
Garys medley was rapid.
Talking s**t with jc
And of course my farmers

I would like to congratulate the top 4 qualifiers, and would like to thank the organisers and especially the sponsors for their generosity.

I am somewhat disappointed with certain aspects of the day.
Rules are there for a reason, and need to be actioned fairly.
It goes without saying competitors compete because they love the sport, & want to see it progress. We spend a small fortune on supplements, food, and equipment. It is therefore disappointing that standard rules are not being kept the same for everyone.
I very rarely complain / voice my opinion but feel very strongly about this. I'm not going to single out any specific lifts or people as what's done is done.
The referee was made aware of one of the incidents,  understood and agreed with the problem, but felt it was more disruptive to adhere to the  rules than to uphold the integrity of the event?!  I hate to see the sport I love coming in to disrepute.

I hope to see you all again next year bigger & stronger.

I think the incident colin is referring to is my barrel load
I put a spotter on the truck to stop barrels falling of for everyone
For a 2 reasons
The platforms we're leaning down hill making it more likely for things to roll
And axcess to the rear of the platforms was blocked by the truck

Top 5 medley times

At the beginning of the competition we were given the rules for the barrels, and they were to stand them on end.
When loading my 1st barrel I clearly heard the head referee shout to the man on the wagon not to touch the barrel.
The fact is marks 1st barrel was helped on to it's end by the man on the wagon. Without this help the barrel would have fallen and cost Mark time / points.
A spotter is there for the single purpose of ensuring the safety of the competitor. In this case the spotter involved himself in the event which positively influenced the result in Marks favour.
