Good stuff mate, nice vid. Sets of 10 on deadlifts are horrible.

I take back what I said before, get involved in strongman, the more the merrier! Grin

Very strong overhead work mate! A bit more speed on the legs for the log press should see bigger numbers go up. great stuff!

vausie said:nice stuff mate only pointer id say on log is get the legs more involved it was almost a strict press mate which is impressive in itself but i would practice one motions with around 60kg tht will build speed on the clean and ultimatly you'll be like the unit himself

p.s i agree with paul PL needs you SM has 2 many LW guys knocking me down the table as it is another one is just upsetting Roll-Eyes

I'll give the 60kg one motions a try, thanks for the advice. I realise I'm not using my legs very much and was wondering what I can do about it.

p.s I've not done any events training yet and my grip is pretty awful, so I don't think I'll be troubling you in the lightweight strongman comps.

I'm not a fan of any deadlift sets over 5 reps, but that's just part of 5/3/1 so I have to get on with it.

I'll make sure I enter some strongman comps soon, just want to make sure I'll actually be able to register a score on all the events first.

Cheers mate. I'll try and work on the speed issue, I think I'm showing the log a little too much respect as it does scare me a bit Wink

Yeah I watched that video the other day after I'd filmed myself, and seeing the speed you get into the clean made me realise how slow I was. I'll keep working on it and I'll give the lighter one motions a try like you suggested.

Good session. Trained straight after work so wasn't expecting much, could of pushed for another rep on my main set but I'm trying to leave one in reserve were possible now and not risk failing any. Couldbn't get all reps on db bench but happy with what I did. I hate kroc rows on days like today, but need to get my pulling stronger.

Videos from today:

Squats felt good today. I got back to doing what Kev told me to when I had my session with him and be more under control on the way down, seemed to work well today. Safety bar squats were hard, but I actually feel like I could beat my 1RM on the straight bar with it which is strange. I look like POB from that old TV Show on the last rep of the safety bar squats.

Squat
1 x 5 @ 40kg
1 x 5 @ 60kg
1 x 5 @ 80kg
1 x 5 @ 100kg
1 x 5 @ 120kg
1 x 5 @ 140kg
1 x 1 @ 150kg
1 x 1 @ 160kg
1 x 1 @ 170kg

Log Clean & Press
1 x 3 @ 38kg
1 x 3 @ 58kg
1 x 3 @ 68kg
1 x 3 @ 73kg
1 x 1 @ 78kg
1 x 1 @ 83kg
1 x F @ 88kg

Went to a local gym to train and decided to do some more squatting. That's the easiest 170kg I've done by a long way, I reckon 180 would of gone but I didn't want to push it as yesterday was my main squat day. Left arm wouldn't quite lock out on the 88kg log, the log I was using had thick handles which made cleaning it harder than mine, so I was glad to get the 88kg to my chest to attempt the press.
