400k Deadlift By A 16 Stone Natural Powerlifter ?

Bloke at work the other day told me he used to lift in natural comps. He was a bit sketchy about what fed but he said it was a natural one. It would have been between 10-20 yrs ago and he said he was equiped. Anyway he claimed he pulled 400k at 16 stone. His name is Steve Pascoe if anyone remembers his name.

Has anyone pulled 400k at 16 stone in a natural fed? I'm very ignorant on the PL side of things ( and life in general) but I'm calling bulls**t. He is a massive bloke now although obese so I can believe he was very solid 16 stone. The thing that threw me was that he didn't claim a massive bench (170k) which I would have expected from 'a bloke at work' .

mmm , sometime people can quote mabie a rack pull type thing as a deadlift ?

i did 370kg at BSM and intend on telling people thats how much i can pull !!!

16 stone is the 100/110 cat so i highly doubt it

was there even any 400kg deadlifts full stop 10-20 years ago?

My wife's cousin worked as a miner in the North East when he was a young lad. When the Thatcher government cocked that up, he upped sticks and went to London and has been a tunneller ever since. His nickname is 'the mole' casue he's dug so many tunnells. He's 50 now, has high blood pressure, high cholesterol and has recently had an attack of gout. However, years of hard labour have given him a set a broad shoulders and muscular forearms.

Anyway, when he found out that I lifted weights he'd ask me what I'd just been doing in the gym and add 50kg and a few reps and say that's what he was shifting when he was my age. I used to believe him because he has a physique you'd imagine to have been strong in his prime if you know what I mean.

Then, over a few pints, he told me that he used to run when he wasn't lifting and his typical run would be to run 5 miles, jog 5 miles and then sprint 5 miles Eek Eek I never believed anything he told me about lifting weights after that!

So we have established he is full of s**t, cheers.

I should pull the lying f**ker up about this but I dont suppose I will. I'm only annoyed because we were talking in front of another guy and I said I'd pulled 250 then 'boke from work' made me look like a c**t by claiming 400kGrin

Thing to do in these situations is to act like you fully beleive him but press hime on details.

"Wow thats a great deadlift. That would still be a British record now. Thats only 60kg of the best all time deadlift ever! What fed were you in? I'll check to see if its still a record? etc etc ". Off course he'll probably claim it was in the gy, but if people are listening and can read between the lines they will.

Lol everyone at my old gym claims to bench 135 kg for 20 reps, problem is the 45 on the disks is pounds not kg's... no matter how much i tell them they arnt kg they cannot comprehend it, one guy even reps 405 kg ..Grin

I've found that older guys in the 40+ region were all 10 x stronger than i am when they were my age, and if they wern't its because supplements have come along way. People bulls**t.

When i first started at the place of work i am now, the guy on the laser was a ''massive bodybuilder'' in his prime. Just so happened he was benching 5 kg more than me at my age, now im 25 kg stronger and he's still putting up 5 kg more in his prime lol

This is a developed version of the 'bigger stronger mate' ploy discussed in another thread, born out of pure jealousy. He knew that 400kg would mean something to you, but f**k all in terms of likelihood to the guy you were talking to. He even bothered to emphasize that he lifted drug-free! He obviously has a cock that resembles a Walnut Whip.

Pulling him up on it will let him know it's bothered you and any kind of public retaliation will just make you look insecure in your own achievements. I would suggest something covert that you can take quiet, smug satisfaction in, like pissing in his coffee.
