has spent time in a modern educational setting Member 47, 1221 posts | The stupid thing is - 95kg is actually my (official) max. So, yeah, I'm having a big whinge about doing 3 or 4 singles with my max. How ungrateful!!! The only reason I'm upset about today's log is the fact that I thought my "tricep bar push presses" (that I've done for a while now) would have had enough of a carry over to get a few doubles with 95kg. Also, it's just SOOOOOOOO far from 125kg. I also thought I would be able to go 20m with a 300kg yoke. Even with drops, I couldn't get much past half way. The stones were quite/very good. I felt I was clearing the platform by quite a few inches. Yay.

Then I thought he was being realistic. BUT I can't take notice of that negative character. Let's train somewhere else.

always lookIng for the extra UT2 work. Member 9, 18279 posts SQ 210, BP 167.5, DL 260637.5 kgs @ 103kgs UnEq | Right, first off that was a solid session. It's not about where you are now, it's about where you are in 5 months time that is important, so get your head sorted and worry about the next 57 sessions As for me pulling out of comps - NEVER! EVER! I simply said that I don't know 100% that I will be doing THAT particular comp as 1) there is another comp a few days later that looked REALLY good last year: On Bank Holiday Monday 28th May I competed in the above. The events were: 1) 100kg log press for reps from chest 2) 120kg Farmers Walk for distance 3) Loading Event (5 items 100kg barrell, 100kg atlas stone, 110kg stone, 115kg sand bag, 135 kg barrel) 4) Axe hold (15kg each) 5) Truck Pull (7.5 tonne truck over 25 metres) ...with a nice big crowd to boot , 2, The events were just silly heavy last year and as Pete pointed out what would be the point in doing a comp where you can't do anything on 3 of the events (log, car dead and yoke were all crazy heavy)? 3)I will never pull out of a show, but if there's a "better" one for me/us a few days later it would be stupid to do the UK's simply because it is the UK's.

That comp looks solid, quite doable indeed. and pete, 125kg log by summer is high grade crackpipe stuff My goal is 120 and even that has a bit of a peruvian cocaine smell to it.

Whats with all the negativity on the log press goals? I went from 100 to 120 in about 6 months (with time off for injuries) and my other press numbers arent much different from yours. I think if you proritise log over your other pressing exercises for the next few months 120-125 is definately achievable.

left the country satisfied Member 10, 19241 posts SQ 240, BP 150, DL 270660.0 kgs @ 107kgs UnEq | your progress was phenomenal and inspirational, and shows it can be done, so you definitely are right! One problem is that its not easy for me and pete to prioritise it because we have access to the log only once a week You think your speed and light work played a big part in the progress?

Trump will get another four years Member 126, 16707 posts SQ 160, BP 110, DL 225495.0 kgs @ 75kgs UnEq | Yeah I think it did help but I put most of it down to doing alot of high volume (4x6 and 5x5) sessions. When I do alot of reps I find it easier to work on my technique. And I think the gains ive got over that time I mostly down to technique rather than strength. I think training log on a 'pressing' day rather than an 'events' day has probably helped too. But like you say thats not possible for you and pete.

Joking aside, I did worry that you were being negative but obviously (as you pointed out) I even admitted to you that it's looking like I wouldn't do very much with three of the likely events. I'm sure that you noticed the 15 winks about you being a negative character and finding somewhere else to train. More than anything, I'm just disappointed at how right you probably are. Thanks again for lending me the weights. PS. The comp you pointed out does look very good.

has spent time in a modern educational setting Member 47, 1221 posts | "Session 3" of 58 I can't really count tonight's session as a workout because all I was aiming for was a 1 rep max deadlift. 100kg X 5 140kg X 3 170kg X 1 200kg X 1 220kg X 1 (still fairly comfortable, very smooth) 237.5kg X f 237.5kg X f 237.5kg X f 230kg X f - WTF OK, I've not deadlifted heavy for 23 days but I still though that I'd get the 237.5kg. Back was so wasted after the 237.5kg that I couldn't even pull 230kg in the end. I wonder if wearing a belt would have helped? Shame that I don't own one. I'm going to do higher rep deads for a bit - 4 sets of 6. I'll do a high amount of sets on the box squats (I'll make some of those sets front box squats to a really low box - 6 inches). I'll keep the low reps on the shoulders. I'm going to start barbell rowing on deadlift days. I need to have a think about how often I'll do certain exercises.
